Pretty simple.... you need 3/8", 7/16" 9/16" and 5/8" sockets, ratchet and extension, and a 9/16" wrench. look under the carbs from the starboard side, you will see a bellcrank with a 3/8" headed bolt. Remove that bolt and don't lose the lock washer; you will see that that bolt is a pin also. It's easier to get to if you remove the lower cowl pans. once the bolt is out, remove the trim tab, the two bolts there (one under the trim tab and the other just in front of it) then the four side bolts and it should drop right off......

9/16'' gear wrench is your friend, with an impact the case can be off in under 1min.

Would this kit pretty much have everything you think I would need to fix this?

That's a water pump kit, does not have driveshaft seals in it.

Parts you need are 50 and 29 now this is for a 95 130hp so look up your year here. And you should do the shift shaft o-rings also #46

Check this video out. I think I got the wrong seals. Ordering more now. Question: Should this drive shaft have this much play in it?

Pinion gear is toast or driveshaft bearing it toast.

This something I can fix on my own or will I need a press and or other special tools? And how can I tell if it is the Pinion gear, the driveshaft bearing or both?

At this point you now need some special tools to disassemble.

That is one neglected gear case! Wow!! A simple service item, I'd worry about the rest of the motor.

Actually those have a 2 piece drive shafts that are splined right below the seal so they move a fair amount, hard to tell in video if too much. Remove the top bearing cap and check it.

Thank you. I took the lower unit to a local shop and they said it was fine. That I needed a new seal. Man guys..... I almost bought a new lower for 1200. Glad I didn't.
