My new boat build - 20ft Offshore stepped V

Thought you guys might like to see pics of my new boat. It's almost ready for me to travel to the mainland UK to collect (I live on a small island).

The Phantom 19 is a legendary boat in Europe, winning countless championships in various classes over the years. It's recently been updated after a good friend of mine designed a twin stepped plant to sit in the original mould, and made a true tandem deck mould based on the original side by side design. The first stepped 19 (they actually measure around 20'6" I believe) won our class in the 2014 UIM World Championships for class 3A, and has run 74mph with a stock 115HO E-TEC. Mine is the fourth stepped 19 to be built, and the second with the tandem deck. It will be rigged with my 115HO on a Stainless Marine Lifter, and we'll be taking her on a 2400 mile round trip to Norway in July for the Worlds.

For some reason photos are uploading sideways! They're right on my iPad...

I'll keep this updated as we rig it if people are interested, it will be quite different to most river and lake rockets on here but hopefully some will find it interesting what we do over here!

I really admire some of the race inspired hulls available in Europe. Guess it's due to a more varied racing scene.
Keep up the posts, like to see how this one turns out.
    Thanks

We will be weighing the hull next week when I collect it, estimate is between 250-300kg. The minimum weight for our class is 700kg including both crew & kit, and we hope to be somewhere near that. There's a 23ft boat just been made in full carbon fibre for our class in Sweden, bare hull is 228kg, they race much flatter water there though.

A standard deck was laid up, and cut about to make a plug for the new tandem deck. I'll put some pics up later of that process. The steps were specifically designed for 115hp and the weight of our class, so they wouldn't be as effective with a 150. The 115hp stepped boat is 4-5mph quicker than a 150hp Unstepped version in race trim, so they definitely work! I'm not sure on the exact beam measurement, I'd guess around 5'6"-5'10". I'll measure it when I have it. There's some very interesting designs coming out these days, as more boats are built I'll share pics here

I collected the hull on Tuesday, and after 20 hours worth of ferrys she's now home ready to start rigging. The weight is 242kg (534lbs in American ), which will increase slightly once we've added small pads for the battery and oil etc. I also received my new helmet, painted by a chopper painter in Virginia, which looks absolutely incredible and fits perfectly. I'm pretty happy right now!

That is one of the Sexiest V hulls ive seen, I love that she runs so good with only 126hp from the 115ho, those Lil V4s rock, especially when the Exhaust valve opens it feels like Vtec on a Honda......That Black is Gorgeous.....Us Americans will say, so 74 with a 115ho, how fast with a 400R or a 7 Marine 627hp V8 that will sink it....Ha Ha Ha Ha

its around 4'8" from memory when I measured to make the trailer bunks. Each step is 30mm, with large cut outs in the chines for ventilation.

My mate that runs one has it cornering very well. It's a different driving technique to a traditional V which I'll need to learn, and I'm looking forward to it.
