Rigging a new 2016 21 Liberator
I just got this new 21 Liberator in. It's already sold, but I have four more. I just started on it today. All these colors are in the gelcoat.

So a new boat comes in with no anything, carpet, interior, no gas tanks...I can see no power but that is just a bare hull on a trailer. Sorry, I have never seen a new boat fresh off a transport.

When it comes to longevity, given equal care, which holds upbetter, gelcoat or paint? Of course, this is taking into consideration the quality paint you use. Guess this leads into the second question, between the two, which requires the most upkeep.
Thanks

The gelcoat boats are a couple thousand dollars cheaper but I can't put the detail into the paint job like I can with paint. I can get a lot more detail and special-effects with the paint. Paint will hold up better to the sunlight and will not fade. Gelcoat is thicker so sometimes you can sand out scratches easier though. I can touch up paint a lot easier than Gelcoatguy. You take care of a paint job just like you would on a nice car. This will will have a 300xs. All my boats come in as a bare fiberglass shell. The seats do come with the boat though. I found out years ago when I used to build show cars that you pretty much have to do everything yourself if you wanted to come out real nice

Your custom paint jobs are AWESOME. If I ordered a new one it would be white and you would make it AWESOME.

I got all the holes drilled into the dash yesterday. Now I'm painting the dash with a red candy marble with a silver marble and black stripes. Heres a few of the steps.
Step 1. cut all the holes in the white dash
Step 2. Tape off and paint the dash black
Step 3. Tape off what I want to leave black and spray red
Step 4. Untape part of the black so that when I spray the marble pearl over the red it will also go over the black
Step 5. Silver marble is applied.
Step 6 Spray the candy red over the silver marble. This will be done this afternoon
Step 7. spray two coats of intercoat clear
Step 8. wet sand intercoat clear, then spray with three coats of urethane clear
Step 9. wet sand with 1000 grit, then sand again with 1500 grit
Step 10. Buff four times with finer and finer grit compound
Step 11. wax it and install gauges and say DAMN!! FINALLY DONE!Last edited by WILDMAN; 02-12-2016 at 07:19 PM.

Paint details awesome as always.

Just out of curiosity, is that large round hole in the passenger side bulkhead a subwoofer location?

I put on the candy red over the marble this afternoon. It still needs to be clear coated. I also painted the rear area with gray Awlgrip. The "before" pic is where it is white gelcoat.

I got a pair of new digital scales Friday. I decided to weigh this new Liberator. 463 lbs in the front and 624 lbs in the back. Total weight is 1087 lbs.
