Ebay/Craigslist rant

I don't know why it bothers me and I know there is a thread for it but.......they don't pay to advertise there boats on the site so why should they get free advertisement cause members keep putting up there stuff for sale. I dont see how it's fare to the members that pay to have more than likely non members boats posted for free. I'm sure everyone knows how to use ebay and craigslist so let them hunt on their own. A smart guy would put his boat for sale for free on Craigslist than join scream and fly and post the link JMO

I think that most that post ebay and Craigslist links are simply not thinking about the dollar impact it may have on another member/vendor.(maybe they should) I think its more like,they see a item that they like, or have interest in. Or if it seems like a deal,and they just want to share it with other members.I can understand that. But I must say, you also bring up a good point!!----Anyway they say that a good rant now and again is healthy

I'm not a huge fan of CL, let alone on S&F...the material posted on Craigslist isn't credible. Between that and Facebook, any idiot can get on there.

I think they "Pay to publish" policy of the site is to keep the scammers and riff raff out. Otherwise you'd see the same ****ty pubs you see on craigslist flooding the forum.

So really, the craigslist pubs don't really affect the paying members, even if they're posted in the forum.

I've posted links to CL and ebay plenty of times but it was just a to pass on a good deal (or hilarious ad) to members on here who might have similar interest. You will get much more attention on your item if you post it in the for sale section rather then the ebay/CL section.

Chaz I think the guy selling that 3000x is a scammer

1. I think of the CL & Ebay links more as a "nice to do" thing that people do to be helpful to fellow members of this site. And/or sometimes post just to share good entertainment.

Paying members of this site could also view it as part of the expected package.....I don't but some might.
2. Most people that post boat stuff for sale on CL & Ebay probably have no clue this site (S&F) even exists. The ones that do may have no interest in it. Should members of S&F miss out on good deals because of this?
3. That section of the site only has about 10 links posted on a good month. Is it really causing a problem?
