Had a 1979, 16 foot BAJA SS, 115 Johnson, home made ski tow bar, setup up for skiing, shade under 60 MPH, weren't many around that would out run it.

Started with a 35 mph pink Larson with a 80 dockbuster. Probably had more fun with that than any 0f them. Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me.

The smaller the boat the faster 60 can be....or at least feel like it. Growing up my Dad had a 15" G.W.Invader with a 110 Merc, it ran 65 ( on the speedo ) and was considered fast for the day ( early 70's) G.W. Invader also made that little 10 footer, a friend of my dads had one with a Merc 65 shorty on it and man you felt like you were doing ludicrous speed in that thing.

When I was a kid, the neighbours had a 14' tin boat with a 25 HP. Fastest boat around. I bought an 8' Hydroplane and then a 20 Chrysler. The used 20 Chrysler was way cheaper than a Merc or OMC. I wonder why.

Truthfully after a morning of towing skiiers and wakeboarders, not quite 50 mph feels very fast. That's WOT in my 16 Baja with the ski prop on the rev limiter.

60 is still fast. My Allison will go faster of course, but for me, 60 is fast.

My first boat...not at all fancy lol. 3.5hp evinrude....

In the picture is my Dad's Chrysler Conquer...with a 140 Charger on it. I bet it went 45mph lol. Even when we got our Vking I bet it barely did 60...until we got into V6's then playtime was over lol.
