Any care to deal with this BS? From Greg, and a link the post.

''Every bit helps because I'm about to reformat my main workstation here so now is a good time to upgrade. Microsoft has stopped doing updates to the Outlook 2010 junk email filter years ago, and with all of the new domains that were unleashed into the market, blocking domains now is as tedious as banning addresses one by one. It's ridiculous now.

Another issue I have is all of the junk email bots that are using Yahoo and other free email addresses. Don't these companies crack down on this stuff? It's only adding to their bandwidth usage and costing them more money."

Thank you everyone, it really does make me feel good to see posts like this, I appreciate it!

Scream And Fly is an immense target for spammers (as we have all seen) due to its size and traffic. Even with the countermeasures we have in place, many spammers were getting through so a different approach was required. This is because real people are being used to register for large forum sites now, and all spammer countermeasures are designed to deal with spam bots, or automated registration systems.

The only way to effectively battle spammers and spam bots is to manually approve each new registration into S&F, which is an extremely tedious task. But using this method, I am able to catch almost all spammers before they have a chance to post on the site. The downside is that it requires me to me on a constant vigil of monitoring new registrations and investigating and removing spammers, while approving legitimate ones. So far it has been working very well, but it's very labor intensive.

I really appreciate the support you all give me everyone that works to keep Scream And Fly growing. I am very grateful!

    Sincerely,
    Greg

Ya know, the "net" is a wonderful thing! It has REALLY expanded MY (what thought) "knowledge". Stuff, ideas, questions, parts location, what good, whats junk. Y/T vids of how to's. People not known, but like minds, sharing info. DAMN! Fast story here.

Long ago (before this net thing) when building my Sportster dragbike, I needed a new primary cover the motor, and it was a odd ball as the rear pipe needed to clear the frame forward sweep, as now the frame was widened for a jack shaft off the motor still centered but a "fat rear". Spent a YEAR hitting swap meets, asking to spread the word. Finally found out a dude (Larry the Legend) who lives 4 BLOCKS from unknown to me, who said come on over and let me look. DAMN! 4 car garage stuffed to the ceiling with old HD parts! He was disabled (bad back) but a "collector" old HD. He crawls into the "stacked stuff", and after a few minutes comes out with JUST WHAT NEEDED! NOW?

I can hit the net and find it in a few minutes! BUT?

The scumbags that have taken a hell of a great "new tool" and try there best to fuc it up wasting peoples time with BS? What the hell do they gain? Much less what do they "contribute" a better society?.......ZIP!

Also I have NO NEED to "be a team member" here as its also free. BUT? I have little knowledge to add for ya young bucks (but damn sure appreciate the learning "you guys/girls) nothing to sell, just wanna give ya all a smile daily as me doing some "humor". But what I HAVE LEARNED? PRICELESS!

WAIT! Nothing is "free"! At LEAST become a "team member" as 2 freaking dollars and 8 cents a month for the FREE KNOWLEDGE shared others? Support Greg, support S+F, help each other, etc. On many "gearhead" sites, but Scream and Fly is still ...."da best!" Great bunch of like minded "idiots" like me. Wish all the best, keep it up here, as nothing is forever "without support". OK, nuff me....
