I hope to next summer. The boat is super stable in the mid 80's. With the wide nose I would recommend running it pretty flat up around 100.

I've been tossing around the same idea myself. Was thinking either 280 or 300xs. I'm in the low 90's currently with my setup. Like to hear whatever you for info.

Is the 380 the same hull as the SRV? If so, there's 2 up here that I know of running over 100. 1 with a 280 and 1 with a 300xs.

It's not the same hull. The best Mod-VP Laser 380s back in the day (early 1980s) were running in the low 90s in straightaway speed contests (i.e. PB Magazine Shootouts 1981-82) and high 80s in OPC circle racing. Bill Gohr had a super light one back in the early 90s (actually this one was Joe Burgess' 380 before he passed on) rigged with an Evinrude Mod III crossflow that was running high 90s in drag racing. I don't know of anyone who has actually run over 100 consistently with one.

Ask Dabull He raced them extensively back in the 80's. Still has the one he raced back then.

Mine with a 225 promax is a 90 mph boat. I had a drag powerhead on it for a short while. It was quite a bit faster but I never got a speed on it. It had some neck snapping acceleration though. These 380 Rays are in my opinion one of the best all around performance boats made. I've got a couple F1 powerheads off my race boat that I've toyed with the idea of tryin One on it.
