i need help i just got into hydrostreams

hi i just started getting into fast boats last year and now considering buying my first hydrostream more than likely gonna be a viper if i do get it im gonna put a 140 johnson on it. i talked to a couple of people about this hull and got mixed reactions some say its a bitch to drive and others say there great boats. any knowledge would be greatly appreciated on what speed i can get out of it and how to rig the boat.

Not sure where you are located but the UMPBA has a few v4's running in drags. We set up our classes up by speed so that there is a class for everyone. IMO if you set a Viper up for drags you can take some of the everyday practically out of it. They can be a little tricky to drive but once you figure out how to get it set it will drive like on rails. But the first you should know if you don't is there are 2 types of hydrostream's one that has had a core and one that needs a core. A soft core may not be the end of the world in a lake boat but will make a world of difference in a drag boat. I had a Viper with a mod v6 and it was a blast. I miss the boat but don't miss carry around and extra pair of shorts for the times when it didn't set LOL. As far a speed with a v4 I see them run in our 0-65 mph class in 1000'. It is usually an inexpensive way to get your feet wet in drags. Good Luck Have Fun Be Safe
