Aluminun boat rivets
I recently picked up an aluminum jonboat cheap. The wood in the transom was rotten so it had to be replaced. To replace it I had to remove the two knee supports that are bolted through the transom an riveted through the bottom of the boat. Is there a method or source for re riveting these supports to the bottom? They are 3/16 X 1/4. I don't think pop rivets are the answer. Thanks in advance.

I've always used some small pan head phillips machine screws with 5200 on them with rubber/ss washers on the inside under the nuts. No leaks and won't come loose.

You need the rivets and bucking tool from a place like www.aircraftspruce.com - Alternatively if you know anyone that repairs airplanes they may be able to give you a hand.

Our daughter just boat her first boat at 16. She called me at work one day and said a guy at school has a Jon boat for sale and I want it. She sent me pics and it was a 48x14 with home made Camo paint. I told her to make him fill it with water and check for leaks because pics she sent looked used and abused. Long story short no leaks, fresh seafome green paint and 9.9!!!! Amazing what some paint and dirt will do for rivets! Lol

And because no online discussion stays straight and narrow, I'll throw in the recommendation for no treated lumber for transom etc.
