I have a 200xri with an a17 box. My info shows the a17 to be a 225 promax box and the 200xri to be an a9. I also have another 200xri so I thought I would just steal the box off of it but to my surprise it is also an a17. Is this normal or just a coincidence I have 2 200xri motors with the same, albeit wrong, box. Thanks.

rock they are different A17 one is 824003 which is the digital promax ecu with a pigtail the other are the early analog brains 14632 brains with no pigtail

Ok tex.i havethe fisrt box ya mentioned but it dont have any a17 or any others on it

Serial is 9443013235 came off my 95 175 no limiter..you think that that would handle the 200 hp also with 140psi heads

jeez i have no idea what serial number is that many numbers??? a17 were for the 200 there was some a19 which came on some early 200 promaxs also a16,a13, a14 !!!a17 was not the only early xri ecu

best way for me to tell is run it look at the plugs and performance not too complicated

its a digtal box not a analog,serial number is meaning less to me what the hp on the side of it say or has it been removed,

you will have to have somebody with a ddt get the prom id off it but if its been reflashed it wont read at all

so it could of started life as a 150 box the recurved

Never been reflashed since ive had it.ive been told they cant do the 175 but 200 they can ??? Makes no since but i dont know comp.programs so.....runs great thought so owell

someone reflashed it because its 5800 rpm box if its anything but a promax then its a 6750 , ive had lots and lots of the 824003 boxs the last 15 years and learned lots about them

Hmm idk have had this since 02 and all ive ever know it wqs to be a bone stock powerhead block wise and a stock box..175. Ive had other bone stock fishin motors 200 s around 95 96 with no limiter boxes also

maybe you should get a mercury manualand do some reqding there are no unlimited rpm ecu boxs from mercury even the drag boxs have limiters
