I should probably clarify, it's a ski race and there is a piece of meat hanging on out the back there also! Lol
The image isn't very clear because it's a still taken from a video.
The video is a really good watch. I'll post some of it up here eventually, but I won't be able to for at least a week when I'm home again.

Are you telling me they're pulling a skier in that rough water?

That would be a second type of boat racing where the Observer has to be nutz, to say nothing of the skier. Jersey Skiffs being the other one.

The only other thing that makes this shot even more amazing is it's being wheeled by my brother in law who is a paraplegic! And the fact he went on to win the race in a little under 1hr.
The boat runs cable and pulley steering and he devised a hand throttle that is linked to the foot throttle so anyone can jump in and use either setup. Our rules stipulate the throttle must spring return to idle so he has to steer one handed all the time.

Gotta add some more here. As a damn good friend mine who was a snow ski friend mine..(and fearless as GREAT skier too!") But he moved here later west coast, So Cal, and did those ski races, ON ONE ski too! Some what talking about..(TOUGH PEOPLE!)

The CSR is the premiere water ski race in the world, but the CSR is more than just a race. With its rich 66 year history, quality of competition, and challenge of the open ocean, the CSR has earned its place on the world stage.
Water skiers from around the globe come to participate. This race has notoriety because of the number of participants, and because it is the only open-ocean ski race regularly scheduled anywhere in the world. It is an especially unique challenge to compete across 62 miles of ocean. It is highly coveted and followed around the ski racing world.
The 62 mile-long race to Avalon and back starts and finishes near the Queen Mary. Spectators from around the globe can be found lining Queen Mary’s docks in effort to get the best view of the start and finish.
There are 20 different classes in which to participate; from novice to expert. There are two different starting categories: Boats that are 24 feet long or smaller, and boats between 24 feet and 43 feet. The smaller boats start 7 minutes before the large boats.
The Maya Hotel is the host hotel and headquarters for the Race festivities. With events and activities beginning the Friday before each race and wrapping up the Sunday after, The Maya Hotel is a fun place to visit to be a part of the excitement and energy.
