Scream and cry... What can we do different

I'm sure everyone is aware of the alternate name for this site. Although it is humorus, I can see the connection. I have been frequenting many threads lately only to see the majority of them spoiled by the poster, or respondents getting all sensitive. I am sure nobody is using this site as a portal for internet "bullying", nor is anybody claiming to be the almighty knowledge. I see alot of people getting worked up over nothing and posting unproductive comments. I hope I'm not sounding like the one screaming and crying, but I think we all know what I'm talking about.

I can understand someone pertaining to some of the social threads as S&C......But as for the boat, motor and tech. threads I have really only seen good, helpful info and concerned members posting on them. I know--I know sometimes we have disagreements and arguments concerning how tos or projects but that is human nature. JMO Gary

Easy answer, police yourself. Don't be offensive and don't be overly sensitive. It's easy to be a tough guy from behind a keyboard. Harder to be a genuine person that cares about others. Gary is a good example, check his posts. Always a genuine guy and considerate to others. He is just one of the hundreds on here.

No forum is perfect. This site like all sites will have members come and go and that changes the "tone" of the site. Forums are ever changing, it's the nature of the beast. The larger the forum the more "diverse" the members.

You have what... 70,000+ registered users? If 5% are ding-dongs & dip****s, that's 3,500 trouble-makers... I think this place is incredibly "civil" considering the number of people using the site.

I'm not saying you guys are doing anything right... but hey; it doesn't happen this way by accident either!

yep and it dont take long to find them all either or for them to find u / just a small group of keyboard warriors
but until they make amends the scream and cry will always be associated with that group

I love this group. I have made some great friends because of this site. I've learned a ton just from reading. the hot boat and girls censorship kinda annoys me, so I've been drawn to other adult friendly sites, we're all adults here, and by that I mean the west coast guys, like, hey it is what it is. if some old cromudgen can't handle the way the world is today, sorry, it's in the fast lane passing him by in nanno seconds. fun out

Well, my $.02 on this is as such.....

It all boils down to social interaction, which has changed SIGNIFICANTLY since the creation of Myspace and Facebook. These have given people an open venue to say anything they want when they want with little regard to consequence. The importance of getting "likes" or being "popular" has taken priority (in my opinion) over and above being a genuine, honest, reserved, and helpful person...at least to a good portion to the younger generation (again, my opinion). Everything evolves (or devolves) based on the influences of the participating group. The knowledge base and demographic here is simply staggering if you look at the membership. Everyone from professional boat racers from the early days, to the 17yr old that just scrounged enough money to buy his first ride and is pumped to get advice from one of us....and everything else in between.

Plain and simple, S&F is perhaps the largest (or one of the largest) performance boating venues out there. With that, you become a target for the "haters". As has been said already, it’s up to us to police ourselves so that we make it what we want it to continue to be, and not let the few alter that course.

I've been a member for 11 years, and in that time, I can't tell you how many people have gone out of their way to provide advice, send me parts, lend a hand, spend hours on the phone, etc. etc. during the 2 year resto on my Viper....I've lost count. Point being, the good FAR outweighs the bad...and it will continue down that path as long as the good people contribute to the cause.
