Seeing that there already all aluminium and the cost to make one from a block of aluminium would be the same thing really. Probably heavier than the ones merc and Madefi make. http://www.madefi.com/midsec.htm

Mad EFI mids are cast, not forged. Just because something is billet does not in anyway mean they will not crack or break nor does anything cast mean it will break. There are many variables involved with any part that has to do with it's function and durability.

I would love to hear of any shop that could machine a billet mid at a cost similar to a cast mid that is both light and durable. I have allot of work to send them.

I guess my question to MegaBaron is? Is this something you'd like to see available on the market? Or is this something you have seen in person. I know of no one out there that Manufactures Billet Mids of any type. There are some guys that Fab Super light and super strong Racing Mids from Chrome Molly Tube and Fabricate the tuner as well.

I have Guys send me Taylor Mids (Mad EFI) all the time to make look like Factory. Because Frankly the castings SUCK!!! They are full of Pin Holes, Flaws etc. It takes roughly 7 hrs of sanding filling and smoothing before I can even begin to powdercoat a Taylor. And because they use more than one foundry. There is no consistency in one group of castings to the next. The last Three I did that came out of the last batch they had cast were the worst yet.

There are 4 areas that Taylor Machines on their mids, The Top (for the adapter plate), The bottom (for the lower), The Wing plate mounting areas (sides and back), And the Front (where the swivel mounts).

Anyone want to see detailed close up pictures of these mids as received from Taylor feel free to email me. I'm not posting them on here.
