    21 challenger: chopper or trophy?

What would work best on my setup:
21 challenger, 250 EFI , 10" setback prop shaft even with pad. It currently has a 24 pitch bravo 1. I feel there is more speed to get with different prop setup. Im 6000+ hitting the rev limiter at times flat out. I'm going to buy a new prop soon but need your guys input for piece of mind. Any thought?

The Rev limit is 5850 on a stock 250efi so check your tach. Choppers and trophy both work great on 21 sobs. The chopper needs to be surfaced to run its optimum. If you can't surface it the trophy is the way to go. 27 trophy ran great on my challenger but was surfaced. JMO

Thanks for the info. Think I'll start at a 26 chopper only because the trophy and bravos are similiar.
If my prop shaft is almost even with the pad, would that be considered surfaced when I'm running flat out?

Yes. Bravo is a much bigger diameter prop than the trophy.

Ok so you think a trophy would be better option than a chopper?

For what your boat is yes I do. There are plenty of 21 sob guys on here so maybe you will get some other advice. If it were my boat I would try a 25p trophy. JMO

Nice speed, I'm only seeing mid to high sixties up on the rev limiter. What depth was the prop shaft in relation to the pad. Also what setback were you running?

You can see in second pic my bottom is a little different cause of the notch I had put in it. There is a thread in the General section called Anything Challenger. I have lots of R&D of my boat and lots of Challenger Info. Great read.

So the V has been cut out and a flat surface put in place in order to get the prop more water to bite?
    nice setup btw.

Also after adjusting jack plate for top end where would you say the prop shaft was in relation to your pad or notch?

Actually didnt increase speed other than help keep the boat on the pad like a big trim tab. This lets you stay in control hence more speed. This was done in the Team Shadows after the Challenger mold was used to make them. Superboat did not do this but some had the notch added to their Superboat as is mine. Just helps with handeling, chine walk.

Oh got ya. Thanks for the great info, im going to checkout that challenger read. So running a trophy prop would you suggest starting with the shaft even with pad or one to two inches below.
sorry for all the questions but it's nice to speak with someone whose been there done that
