how to figure correct key for ignition?

The doner boat i got for parts for the motor and fuel tank and jackplate and other stuff had a Mariner motor on it and didnt come with a key. How can i get a key for it cheep? I dont see any numbers or any sort of code on the switch. So without spending $40 on a new ignition switch shoot me some ideas on how to just order the correct $3 key

well if you tight with a merc tech you can use his master keys till you find the right one. Depending you might find a number on the key cylinder.

need to get at the switch and look on the back or side for the number.
Just buy a new switch if there is no number visible, your time is worth 40 bucks and the switch will already be out and in your hand to find the number.

there is a letter on the right side of the choke portion of the switch this will get you with in 4.. any keys with letters above D and below F will be within 2

1A 2A 1B 2B 1C 2C 2D 1D 1F 2F are most common...

keys are numbered 1-4 A-F

3 series keys stop at E
4 series stop at D

Ok i now see the letters and numbers 467 2F on the ignition switch. What key do i need ?
