Big Merc Small Boat
Hi
I Wish you luck. Have the usual things, cmc jack plate, foot throttle, trim on the wheel, and go for it. Prop in the right range?? Who knows. I like to think the outboard will not sink the boat. Other than that, the bigger the better!!!
Love you!!!
Bob
Ps Got a talon 18 and a hydrostream **** lets go faster!!!!!

NICE!
Good read here in my opinion. The advice given to set the weight of the powerhead lower via "cut midsection" was key I think. Hope it helps paint a picture for others looking to understand better like it did for me. Lots of tasty morsels in this old thread for sure. Safe and happy 2014 everyone!

UPDATE: Jaws ran fine for about two seasons then the stock steering went and i added seastar, then I bought a seadoo speedster when the ex (Yes another one left me with a one year old. ) Now I just use the doo. I am thinking about getting Jaws wet but sold the powerhead to a friend who just had to have it for 1500.00 so now I need to look at whats new for drop on. since there is no point anymore in putting a v8 on this boat I am looking for options in the bulletproof range; as i want to drop it and forget it type older man approach mentality anymore. Single father does this **** to you. The boat ran best with the mariner 2.4 as far as handling and holeshot but couldn't touch the torque of the v8 and top end. When I would get on the throttle the boat would torque severly and straighten out, insane! Chinewalking was SCARRY with that v8 high in the air. I used stock mid. 30 cleaver. getting on plane was an issue would recommend a chopper instead of cleaver but once on plane watch out. I hoestly can say it was fun and once I was done I could "say see I made it work" all me, and of course this forum. Just a guy with a idea. So thank you for all the positive input from all the users over the years and the negative ones are thanked by the site for you contribution to the ad revenue they generated. recommendations for replacement motor are appreciated. Thinking yamaha 250. Peace.

Put a late model 2.5 260 or Promax on it, preferably a 15" mid. Best balance of weight, power, reliability, and handling.

225 PM was my repower choice last year. Lots cheaper than a green motor and I hope more reliable and longer lived than a 260/280.
