Question 42 foot Jersey Yacht Sportfish Quality?

Where does this boat stand in the quality "pecking order"? To me, a Bertram or Hatteras would be top of the line, and wonder how the Jersey would compare?

Solid boat, heavy and slow but capable. Just as sturdy as Berts and Hatts back in the day, just not as popular. The 42' was probably the most attractive hull they built / sold. Probably had Cats in it for power. Be sure to have a survey done if a purchase is in your future.

Not trading in the Ventura just yet. This is research for a friend. The boat is part of an estate and they are asking what I feel is an outrageous price in this market. That way, the widow gets to "demo" it for the next several years

I've also heard rumors of a broken stringer in this boat.

Well I come from a family that has had 4 Bertram's
If your looking for a boat made in the 1980s and looking to spend 190.000k as per the Jersey ad.

There are a ton of deals out there and I would stick with
    42 or 46 Bertram.
    41 or 45 or 48 Viking.
    47 Buddy Davis

If you can get a Buddy Davis in the price range witch I think you can I would go with that if you decided not to go bertram
they have that great Duddy Davis bow/flare and rich interiors but have smaller interior space compared to a boat it's size

Of course I love Bertram's as my father has always had them and been In some pretty bad weather in them.
Hatteras are pretty boats and have alway been a bit nicer on the interior than a bertram.
The only boat I've been sick on was a hatteras as they like to rock and roll to much in bad weather so not a fan.

When there are big seas they call it ((Bertram Weather)) for a reason

Plus 2 on the Buddy Davis and the Viking speaks for itself. The Bertrams if my rich buddy couldn't destroy it that speaks volumes for build quality he had twin turbo diesels in a 28? and that thing took a whoopen. Rick
