Frozen upper engine mount bolts!
Need some help. Powerhead is off and would like to replace solid mount bolts. Got the nuts off. Can't budge the bolts soaking with pb blaster now. Engine is a 2000 250 pro xb. Adapter plate is the one piece design with the solid mounts built in. Heat? Impact gun? Don't want to damage anything. Trying to replace adapter plate gasket also. thanks

Soak with pb . Heat and give it hell with a strong impact gun. Just make sure all Ur rigging is away from the heat

Would like to try a four foot pipe as a breaker bar?

Heat is the answer and not propane but use map gas. Much hotter. Just went through this with the exhaust plate on the 300x I bought from florida. When its nice and hot you can pry between the swivel and mid section with a wood wedge.

Heat and you may need to let things cool down some before prying especially if the heat hit both parts so it can shrink back down. Lubricant after things start to move.

You think they would use grease or neverseize on the bolt shanks at the factory! So much for corrosion resistance

Yeah, just the same way that you would think AAM would use antiseize on their unit bearings for Dodge HD front wheel bearings...but I digress...

I coat everything with OMC "peanut butter". Maxima motorcycle chain wax works well too. Sprays on thin and gets in then sets up thick.

I have used CRC anti-corrosion and Merc 101. I also spray the HP driveshafts with CRC anti, let it dry then put it up.

You know Tony they discontinued merc 101 so if you see it in the tube buy it.

Mike, leave it to Merc to drop good stuff. Do they still carry 10-4-C?....Glad I bought 3 tubes on my last purchase.
Thanks for the heads up!

We actually make a mix of 24c, 101 and something else and use that on lots of things that need to be greased. The tecks like to use evinrude gasket sealer on studs and bolts. They call it monkey snot or brown sh*t in a can.
