Hydrostream Yt
So, I'm looking at my transom, after removing the engine and jackplate, and taking measurements from the side of the pad.
It seems that my engine is about 3/16 in. off of center of the wetted surface.
Think this is acceptable? Up to say, 70 MPH? +
Or should I try and re-set the thing?

Hey gunn Hi . Where are U taking the mesuerments from? Almost all yt hulls that I have seen are off. The center of the deck and the center of the pad never match up. Most set up guys just use the transom top for center. My YT is much the same. The motor is right on center on the transom but off by about 1/8" on the pad So far I have not had any problems with mine I do about 75-78mph. No weierd handling or trim problems. I had more trouble with my pitot tub. It used to set up turbulence and cause my prop to blow out. I moved it to the first chine and that took care of that. I would call Randy at GPI and see what he says. He has helped me a lot with my set up. He told me to run my prop 1-1-1/2" below the pad and sure enough he was right. Every body else said to run higher but that just made it run worse AND SLOWER! I would not worry about IT. But give him a call I'am sure he can help. I think he is near you to.

GPI, why didn't I think o that!
I knew that! I was just at IHR and looked at tech talk too.
I'm just wondering how much it gets amplified, the further you set back away from the transom. The farther back, the farther away from center?
I'll see if I can get a hold of Randy

I know what U mean about the setback. I run 8 inches and no problems so far. BUT I have 175hp now and will be stepin up to a 240 soon. so that might make a difference. Is ur rig a closed bow? Or a bow rider like mine. Good luck with it

Vasserrette, open bow.
Stepping up from the 150 Optimax that I bought the with, to a 2.5, around 240 or so. With the 150, I've been told I was in the "lop zone", and had some pretty bad chine walk
A friend, with the same boat, went up in ponies, and drives right through it!
That's what I'm hoping happens with mine
Hopefully, we'll get to see this weekend
The bruiser/blue is mine

Speed!
Don't U just hate the need for speed you were happy with what U had until U got beat. NOW U need a bigger mota
Its the same all over it's an addiction AND U have to feed it! Your right about the lope zone get past 75 and these hulls realy fly 225hp is all it takes and U will be doin 95to 100.
Nice lookin ride you have there. I will post a pic of my rig if I can ever figure out how to! There are some shots of my boat on the PBCC web site. Under boys weekend (events). Don't SWEAT the small stuff. When ur doin 95 the world just seem not to matter so much. PS Don't try to drive through the chine walk. set up ur boat right and it will all but disaper.
PPS put a tono cover on the bow and get a free 3to5 mph

Thanks
Yea, I loved that boat, but I really love the Skater. To me it's like a Valero that can take the rough stuff!
Yup, I'll be at the Romp, site number 109 I think, on the water. Can't wait!!! Will you be there? You had the open boat orange and white YT right?2004 Hydra-Sports Vector 2600 - twin 225 Yamahas

Hey JOHNNYGUN, whose boat is that behind yours? It looks just like the Baja Sunsport 170 my dad had when I was a kid...

TWINS
That is actually a Vasserrette also.
It belongs to a friend we met on the WI river. By de-coding the HIN #'s, they were made in the same month! We run together alot throughout the summer. He started out with a modified 150, and the two would run neck and neck. Last year, he went up to a 2.5L 240, and got away from me like I was in reverse
So, I get my engine sold, and am going up to the same, and I hear thru the vine he's got a 300drag!
It'll be fun, for sure
I love the boat. I had a viper copy, called a oddessy, for a long time, and finaly found this one. It is the one that I wanted, since the first time a ever saw a Stream catalog! I sold my old boat to another river rat that we hang with once in a while. He put on a 200 this year, and I hear it's runnin' pretty good
Check out guest boats at IHR. You'd never hardly tell it wasn't a viper!
Anyway, hoping to get my new engine on and see if I'm past the "zone"
Here's a bigger pic of my avatar. I think all three are in there

You'll need more than 225hp to run 95+ with a YT bowrider. I had a 260 on my YT for ten years and running 100 was easy, but getting that last 5mph or so, I needed perfect water conditions.
Here's a pic of my friends YT flying!

Exstream EH I sent you a pm but I guess you haven't read it. I was wondering if you would share some info on your setup. I have the same boat as you. A 88 Valero yt bowrider w/ 94 175 Merc. I have a nose cone and 7.5 inches of setback. I see what your prop is set at but what prop and rpms are you turning?
Is your engine a Merc or something else? Is it stock or modified. Any info would be appreciated! I would like to get the boat to run t he speeds you said you get. I havent really played w/ setup yet as we are usually skiing or something. Thanks alot for any info. Jason

OMC - YT
That OMC powered YT looks mean as hell. Nice shot of it.
Qshot, do you know if he mounted the fuel tank up front with that heavy motor?
I rigged my YT with an Evinrude Vindicator 225 at first. It was terrifying. It was so bow light. I had a 28 gal tank in the rear (that was part of the problem). I wound up putting a Merc PM 225 on it and it made a world of difference.2004 Hydra-Sports Vector 2600 - twin 225 Yamahas
