Honda vs Yamaha
Looking to buy a portable generator to take to the races, most likely a 2000W inverter style, had a 1000W yamaha which was super quiet, any real world data from my boating friends on which is better and why?
Thanks

We ran a Yamaha 3000w inverter for a number of years in our race trailer and it never missed a beat....and was/is super quiet and very good on fuel. It got BEAT up in the trailer but still keeps going...

look at the epa rating on the gen, honda gets an average rating because of its alum sleeve motor and rubber belt, where the Yamaha has a steel steel gets a above average extended use rating.this is from the epa in independent agency.what is funny is Honda puts its rating inside the plastic cowl hidden, both Honda and Yamaha are years ahead of other gen manufacturers and linear inverters are the way to go.

I have the Yamaha 2400 and use it at the RC boat races , runs 24 / 7 super quiet and reliable as I am sure the Hondas are as well .

I spent a lot of time looking into this exact subject. This is the conclusion that I came to.

It is a 4 stroke inverter 2500 watt and you can get the extended run cap for it. You can buy 3 of them for the price of a single Honda/Yamaha.

You will need 3-4 to equal the Honda or Yamaha, plus where do you get service/parts and things usually break down when you need them, Matt

Normally I would agree except these are the same as several other brands. It is an outsourced vender that builds them for several companies. Compare it to a Generac 2000. The name on the side does cost something.
