Action Marine hulls
Hi I have been surfing the internet for more info and reviews on the Action Marine hulls esp the Action 18. Appreciate everyone chipping on on the performance, handling and structural strength. A little history would help too as I understand its mould has gone thru several hands....thanks

Action Marine is listed as out of business. That being said, there are quite a few around for sale. I have owned them in the past, and I am currently putting another one together. They are definitely an old school, go fast favorite, especially in S. Fla. I picked up an '89 18 footer this year that needed a new floor, but the hull, stringers, and transom were still solid. The newer ones have more composite materials, and the solid glass layup in the hull in all of them (no balsa core) make them pretty sound. I think they hold up well, and are a blast to drive. Like 1fastg3 said though, you have to drive the boat. I have run them in Key's chop for years without problems.. Many run over a hundred, but some prefer to keep them in the 90's for safety's sake. Maybe Beef will chime in. I hear he's looking for another one!

I had read on these boards not too long ago that Barney will still make a boat if it is presold. Company may be out of business, but I gather Barney has the molds--I am sure not all of them, as some have been movign around. Again, there are guys on this board who know for sure. Hopefully, one of them will chime in--if you are thinking of a new boat.
Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."
