    Storing Spare Sleeves

I had 8 sleeves pulled from a block, 1 used in a rebuild (spare powerhead, not rebuilding current motor) and would like to know the best method of storing the other 7 sleeves for future use.

Would coating with fogging oil and storing in bags be ok for long term storage.

    Thanks guys!

That should work fine. Just make sure that you coat them good.

    Thanks Sam!
Ive got a question for ya.....

Is placement for the cyl. fingerports pretty much the same in all/most omc's?

I.e., can the sleeves that were pulled out of this block ("looks" to be fingered the same way....??) be used in the block you built?

They are NOT like the fingerports in the block you had at your shop for a short while, I was told that one was an evo block....

anyway, I know not much can be determined without seeing it. And this is probably making some of you go "WHAT???"

and also, what is LPS 3 and cosmoline?

    thanks everyone!

if the sleves are the same then yes they shuold work. But you would have to mesure them(the ports) to be sure. If you were to go to a marina by you and get some corrosion(seria) srpay. That should be what you need. If you cant find any let me know and i can send you a can up.

Does the spray your talking about dry like a brown film? Thats what was on the cyl. walls after the machining was done.
If so, what is the name? Ill see if they have it at west or various marinas by me

http://www.fluid-film.com/ This is the stuff I use for that scenario. Use it in many snow plow and salt spreader applications too.
