I say forget the V8. I ran plenty of them and the new technology is where its at. the 3 liter Mercs are great, the new evenrude 250 HO is good, the V8s didn't handle that great and gear case problems were never ending. If you get a Merc with the offshore brackets the down pressure of the trim unit makes the handling of the boat great in big water.
As far as the 26p offshore you were referring to. Is that a Lightning ET style your talking about? If so as we have been talking about on here over the last few pages, I think we all want to know the answer to that question. I haven't heard anybody answer it yet. I was kind of hoping Fast Fun 2 John would find out for us, as he is pretty connected to BBlades.

Yea that's it. I want to get either a 25 or 26 set up for large shaft & see what it dose compared to the stock 24 Chopper I'm running now.
Also I'm gona check with a friend of mine about the hook also being on the pad as well as the chines. Makes sense to me, he had a 1989 with a 4 liter V8 and I think the best he ever got out of it was 80. When I had a stock 4 liter on my 1986, 85 was no problem.

Sounds good. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys in person instead of on the board. Last year I was just there 1 day and it rained half the time so we didn't see too many people and got really wet. Lets hope for good weather this year.

I guess I'm backwards. I added weight to mine in the transom area to make it indestructible in rough water.
