Thread: 22" Velocity outboards

Hey Mike
I never answered your question about gear case height. I have an electric jack and have always jacked it back down as I slow down so as not to lose pressure. I think that when I'm running full out its probably bottom of propshaft about 1" above the pad. Without low water pickups you will probably run as high as you can go and still maintain 12 psi anything below thats not safe. If the top of your propshaft at that psi is more than an inch below the pad you will be able to go faster with a low water PU on your case. A longer case crates more drag but when Its up and out the drag goes away thats why your trying a surfacing type prop. How are you set up, do you have a jack or what?

I went back to page 23 of this thread and answered my question. You should be able to dial in pretty easy but if you ultimately go with a low water PU case you will need to go with a electric jack to get the most out of it. You can actually jack higher at top speeds than at lower speeds so you will get a little more height with the electric.

Thank you for the information. If I remember correctly my propshaft is about 1 1/2 inches below the pad, and I still have plenty of water pressure. In the springtime I will raise the motor 1 hole and adjust the jackpate so that I have room to go up

If I'm waking up for the Romp I hope it's in a warmer place than here. My boat would be ready to go too Mikey.
I have everything out of it, and I mean everything!!! She just needs one seat and battery...haha.
Dave, I could even make a speical cover to snap on the rear to make her into a one seater. It would look like a big kayak...lol
Mike, you gatta prop with some pitch for me??? With no weight I will be runing out of prop...lolBoats love hundred dollar bills.

The Rondack Romp this last year was the "Go Romp Yourself" non event...the original organizer retired from putting it together...
But it is typically middle June on Great Sacandaga Lake which is 45+ minutes from Albany, NY. Specifically, it's based out of Northville. Sacandaga is about 27 miles long...1983 Shadow 21, Yamaha 250 HPDI
