Well,

I saw the boat today, I went to look at one of the motors, he is selling them seperately also. Hull is OK, could use a repaint, and some cosmetics, has an aluminum plate over the transom, knees in the motorwell, nice interior setup though. Just wondering if anyone knows the owner.

NO,

I dont want the boat, more looking to see if anyone knows the owner, or the history of the motors. Owner doesnt speak much english, his wife translated for us, and I feel something may have been lost in translation, but it seems like he really doesnt want to sell the boat, just might have to due to the economy. He plans on stepping back to 200's and keep the boat.

No english huh? Run the serial number(s) for the engine(s) you buy, before you buy. There are A LOT of motors being stolen these days. Especially from down that way.

where can I run them?? Seems legit, just cuz he doesnt speak english well doesnt make him a thief, He did give me a receipt for the deposit, and showed me his Florida drivers license to verify

Actually I missed that, but I DO know the guys selling them, I bought my 225 from them, NOT a bad deal. The problem with me rigging twins is the expese of the bracket and all of the rigging(gages, throttles etc), plus the extra weight out back, I have run the thought before, but its just too much work and $$ right now.

You can run them through your local Merc dealer on Midas, and your local police. I would do both lately. Even if you gave him a deposit. There is a gang out of miami that has been stealing boats & large outboards & sterndrives in recent years that are very violent individuals, to put it mildly. Just saying cover your bases, and possibly help in detering the demand. Been in this a long time and you'd be surprised what people do for a buck.

OK, the boat is definitely his, he had a poster of it(aerial shot) hanging in his living room. But i'll check anyway.

Thats why I mentioned to Rick to just buy the whole package. That deal can't be beat, and he would probably take a little less. Thats a double your money proposition, if I ever saw one. Someones going to get a nice boat.
