Not exactly what I'm talking about.
Why should government that can't do anything right give these idiots who have let their company's go down the crapper bailouts? It's totally friggin rediculous whats next? Who's worthy how about if G.E. was going down the chute? Them too? Gotta be a huge manufacturing corporation? How about Haliburton, Mobil Exxon, I could go on forever. Remember the airlines they got bailed out and look where their at AGAIN yep, the crapper. How about we see if someone will buy them before we run to the dumb a$$'s rescue. At the rate were going why bother with wasting time on socialism we mine as well jump right to communism........................................................................LETS STORM THE CASTLE BOYS!

and I'm done.
I along with close friends of mine have been in these manufacturing plants with the beds for the UAW guys to sit on their asses and nap, I've seen the $55/hr floor sweeper (he doesn't exist), I've seen the production numbers from an outside point of view, I've talked with engineering consultants who are hired to up efficiency and production, I've walked plant floors with them, I've seen the engineering departments at suppliers, oem's, design meetings, etc. both transplant and american.
Don't fool yourself, if you think the UAW and the Domestics are still stuck in 1960/70 then you clearly are too....that was 35+ years ago.
Go look up some initial quality stats, go look up fuel economy stats in every category except the sub compacts, go look up the overall fleet fuel economy, quality, and option to option price point....let me know what you find.

I don't disagree at all with what you are saying. I think if the US as a nation wants to survive the way we have for so many years we need to have some pride in locally produced and manufactured products (to me that means North America, not just US) We also need to as a consumer demand that production and manufacturing come back to North American soil (great idea since we have developed and shared such great production facilities with the likes of china and others already). Why should we teach them all of the trade secrets we once held so they can produce our goods for us?
The pain is going to move to the top, just a matter of how long it takes, hopefully these idiots can see it sooner rather then later and can try and reverse the trend....

The government CAN'T sit back and watch itself die. That is what will happen if they don't help a few out here and there. On top of the union problems, which had the government in their back pocket, the government is partly to blame for their problems. If the "loopholes", that have allowed the foreign automakers to take over this country, didn't exist, and we were involved in much more fair trade agreements with other countries, we wouldn't be in this situation.
As KOK_boy said, initial quality numbers are way up from the past. Toyota's aggressive ad campaigns and with much help from our media we have been brainwashed to believe that they are so much better.'86 Valero YT, 2.5 200

That is the root of the problem. With our idiotic corporate tax rate and not putting tarifs and taxes on imported goods we simply are driving ourselves out of the competition. Sure we can sharpen our pens as far as employee compensation but thats minor in comparison.
You sure?.......................................................................LETS STORM THE CASTLE BOYS!

Wholeheartedly agree!! Thats like allowing toyota to ship a partially assembled car to the us to avoid the taxes a fully assembled car would recieve so it can be sold at a more competitive rate.
No, I'm not sure, but I'm trying as I look out my window over the empty streets of Detroit on this grey and gloomy day. Just think I'll pass 2 empty assembly plants on my drive home, thank god those people are out of work, it really makes traffic better....

LMAO
There is about a 10 mile stretch of Dort Highway in flint that EVERY building is abandoned. Delphi West, Buick City, GM Powertrain, EVERY restaraunt, EVERY bar, EVERY party Store, EVERY gas station, EVERY Bank, EVERY parts store, etc. The only thing left is a few strip clubs that didnt close and a few junkyards that are still operating.
Even the thugs moved out and half the homes are empty.
Coming to a city near you.....
damnit Kartrubber, I said I was done!

You are either; Blind, biased or have never dealt with the UAW [which I doubt]. When you try to drive into a UAW plant and they meet you at the gate requesting to see your union card and then calling your local to see if your dues are in good standing, who do you think is "running the show" them or management?
They also control what UNION contractor gets to provide ALL services to build and maintain the assembly/parts plants. They also get their "cut" from the contractors.
I have also been to a GM regional parts warehouse here where they "warehoused" laidoff union workers. They tried to bully me into not entering the plant but I walked right by them and surveyed the HVAC equipment for the building owner.
They, as Dodos, need to join the Dodo bird [extinct].
I work with a lot of the Trades Union guys and we get along well but the UAW are a bunch of Thugs.Last edited by JR IN JAX; 11-10-2008 at 02:23 PM.

You do still live in he 60's don't you?
Don't take that as me being pro-union, but you're out of touch.
The UAW has created problems, why do you think the domestics are trying to re-negotiate contracts with them constantly? Why do you think more and more plants are pushed outside of the US? Why do you think most suppliers try to use non union labor?
