The Canadian product is maltier-tasting, the flavor is smother and more intense. The flakes are usually thinner and more jagged-shaped too, with less of the tiny air pockets in the flakes. The frosting usually is glossy-looking. Hard to eat just one bowl.

The Battle Creek product is bland. Tastes like corn and sugar (mostly IS anyway), but more of a gritty, boring plain-jane flavor. The flakes are more rounded, usually thicker with more air bubbles in the flakes, and a satin-texture frosting. Not nearly as addictive as the Canuck flakes.

Of the two Canuck lines, (00735 and 04132), the 00735 has a better "smell inside the bag" aroma, the 04132 flakes have more of the "old socks" aroma, but they both taste the same.

Additionally, there are other inconsistencies in the product. Thickness or hardness of the flakes, amount of frosting, etc. Quality control isn't very strict. I still love my Frosted Flakes though, as long as I can still find the Canadian ones.

In the photo, they almost look the same, other than the slight color and shape difference.
    Battle Creek 00734 product on the left, . . . . . . . . . . . . . Canada 04132 product on the right.

For a while, I noticed that sometimes I'd get a good box, and sometimes I'd get a bad (not as good) box. Eventually I figured out the Canada connection.

John Speath Vaccum impregnates the Canadian version with frosting. The American version is done with a chopper gun.

Yep, see John proves I'm not crazy. He's tasted the "differences" in Frosted Flakes now. Just look for the "Product of Canada" marking above the company address on the side panel. That's the good stuff.

A few years ago, when I called them and tried to say there were "two varieties" of Frosted Flakes product, two distinctly different flavors and textures, they told me I was crazy.

Last year, I submitted an E-mail complaint about a couple of boxes with "extremely thick, crunchy flakes that tore up my gums", and they promply sent me replacement coupons.

you must get to the bottom of this! tour the plants with a hidden camera and get a chemical analysis of the two seeming varieties, perhaps the ladder first so you know what to look for in your investigative tours.

    Wow thanks from Battle Creek!

I live here in "Cereal City", thanks for your critique of our product. The Kellogg Company was founded here. I am sure that Will and John Kellogg would be pleased to find out that you enjoy their product. However the U.F.G.M. local 7 probably wouldn't share your enthusiasm for a foreign made product. At least the corporate money comes home to B.C. though. Nice to know that so many of you guys enjoy eating cereal. Hey Pyro I hear that foreign repaired horns are better than domestic ones. There is a real need in the U.S.A. to support our companies, so let's all do our part and buy American. Remember this is America speak American Damnit!!

Because it's created in a socialist enviroment where everything is made for the people. Not that US stuff that is made just to make the board members and shareholders richer!

Dude, chill out. I'm not ordering cereal on the internet from another country or something. You make me out as a flag-burner just because I pick and choose, and I demand quality!
