1985 Hydrostream VegasXT. What's your take.

I'm about to buy a mint condition Hydrostream VegasXT hull rigged for a 1992 225 Johnson. Boat looks to be inexcellent condition and has been dry stored throughout it's lifetime. It's white with orange and red stripes. Complete with 27 gal. fuel tank, hot foot, hydraulic jack plate, aluminum trailer and some other neat extras. I'm really excited as this will be my first investment on a speedboat. Don't know much about them, but I'm willing to learn as I go. What can you guys tell me about the Vegas and it's history??? Thanks.

Is the fuel tank in the front or the back?

One of my friends had a Vegas "Skier" XT with the heavy front deck and the tank in the front. It was great for skiing... but not nearly as fast as the "regular" Vegas with the light deck and the tank in the back.

Still, it ran in the low to mid 70's with a stock 200 Merc.

I have an 89' Vegas XT with an OMC GT-200 Looper on the back. I love the boat.....it handles rough water pretty good, will carry 5 people+gear if I need to, and will run 80mph pretty easy. I have thought about selling my XT a few times, but every time I get out on the lake.........I remember why I like driving it so much.

I also like the fast that it's not a "go fast" only boat....I have go fast, pull someone on a tube, and load up a bunch of friends and head out on the lake for the afternoon.

But just like any older boat.....check over the entire boat and look for any crack or softspots on the float and transom.

If you get it, post up some pics.

Thanks for the vid. Nice ride. your info on it handling well on moderate waters is helpful. I'm gonna be mostly using it out on the bay here in Miami, Fl. It can get a little rough at times. Thanks once again.

These boats look fast. After seeing this, I really can't wait to get on the water. I should have some pics tomorrow afternoon and I'll definetly post them. Keep an eye out for them. Thanks for your take.

The fuel tank is in the back. It was custom mounted on behind the back seat.

Damn, you scared me there for a minute. As I get acquainted with this website, I'd like to find out about some events here in Florida, that I can ride out to and show my new baby off. Thanks for the response.

I have a valero v hull with a gt 185 johnson, i know its not the same hull or size but its got the same idea and i will say i love it. The boat is fast fairly good handling but hey u can blow most other boats that pull up beside u away. Hydrostreams in general are pretty much all great boats i cant think of one bad one.
