Holly rabbit squirl driving arms rinckelled ass flapjacks batman were did this thread go. After over 1000 hrs and 9 years of driving a GS I find them very forgiving. Don't know what all the fuss is about. Ive let go of the wheel at 95 before just show i could and turned the key off dozens of times at 90 to check plugs. The only times there have ever been a problem was diver error on my part or catastrophic prop failure while driving on the edge . Because I make mistakes some times is why I don't drive a tunnel and drive an Allison. I would rather hook than flip anyday. Pulled out of a few hooks before also. That was driver excellence if I do say so myself .
You drive anything on the very very edge were there is no room for error and make an error i dont care what your in or driving even a car its not going to be good. Just ask a guy who flipped his STV at 143 caught a gust of wind and over she went. What would happen if you tried to run a Triad with a 300xs to 120 and hit a wave sideways ya didn't see? Probably something not to good. Problem with Allisons and triads and STV,s etc... is we all try and run them 1 or 2 mph past there set up point thinking we can get that 1 more MPH. The speed doesn't doesn't necessarily matter at that point or what hull your in. Could be in an Allison with a 150 or a 33ft with twin 1600hp motors tunnel or Vee. Race drivers flip and hook all the time. It doesn't mean there hulls are bad. It just means they are running a little to far past were they should be in the conditions with the setup they have. Thats it. Im confident that a well setup GS will bust 110 like it has been done before. 112 with more left from a 300pm has been achieved already. 105-106 buy lots of guys with 260,s. Theres quite a few guys running 250xs,s on a GS now and XB2003,s busting 100 with no ill effects. I love my GS and have no problem with the way she handles anything at all. They are very easy boats to drive once you learn the technique to driving them. If you dont want to learn how to drive one of the fastest 20ft vee hulled boats on the planet with the least amount of power you can find lots of bigger and smaller boats that will fill the bill for speed. But most wont have that polished ride quality and craftsmanship an Allison has ive found. To each his own what ever floats your boat. i don't find them dangerous at all. But at the same time I respect the speeds mine or anyones i ride in will go. Theres a lot more Grand Sports out there than there is most other 20ft 100 mph+ vees. So it only stands to reason you'll hear more about them when something happens also.
