The Force/Bayliner L-Drive..another flop.. at least kept the powerhead in the boat. All the trouble to design this thing and it is for freshwater market only. Only feasible use for this thing...remember there were some small fishing boats built back many years ago that had the outboard mounted in the middle of the boat. That would at least keep the engine out of the water and it would be easy to work on.

There are many theories abound as to what exactly was the issue but electrical was the constant and the etec was part of it. That’s the only one that I can think of. Etec sleds rock and completely dominate the market because of it. They outperform and last way longer than the other two strokes in the sled market. Etec motors were on skidoos about five years before they bought omc and switched them over from ficht
Your saying there were etec on sleds before BRP bought OMC?
I thought old brp sleds had orbital injection?

I have the dates wrong the ficht was omc 90’s and the etec is brp 2000’s tech. I thought they launched the etec sleds before the etec boat motors but I may have been wrong on that I’m not sure. Either way the point is ficht is omc and etec is brp/rotax and works way better

The update from ficht to etec was using the electronics to close the injector to get very accurate fuel control
