If we don't figure out how to fix this - it could get bad!

The youngens need to do the same thing us old farts did. WORK. I got my first real job the day I turned 16. Before that I sold veggies out of grandpas garden, mowed lawns, and shoveled snow. Anything I could do to may a buck. Two years of college, a total waste of time, then off to work. Joined the Teamsters for a couple years and while doing that I flipped houses when not driving. Became full time self employed at 22 and never looked back. Lot's of wondering if I made a mistake but just kept grinding. It's all about attitude and the attitude of the current generation is part of the issue. My parents came from families that were worse than dirt poor. They both worked and Dad worked several jobs at once. They provided me with what I needed but not necessarily what I wanted. Todays parents are much better off and have given the kids nearly everything they want and in my opinion that is why they think it should be easy. It's not.

Rock, don't lose hope for the young-uns. I worked like a dog from an early age like you, taught my kid to do the same. He and his buds all have very level heads. Work, go boating, raise a family, hoping to make enough to retire early. There's a lot of them wanting to live the American dream, and working hard to get there.

Agreed, the news and social media highlight the negatives. All 3 of my kids, niece and nephew, son-in-law and future daughter-in-law all work hard and are successful. In fact, my oldest son recently launched a commercial trash business in the Wilmington NC area. https://www.valorwasteservices.com/.
They all vote on the right side as well. My personal opinion is we are in the middle of peak lunacy as far as the lefties are concerned. Getting ready to tilt back the other way. Hope I'm right.Bullet CC w/ 225 Promax - Sold

I know many impressive young folks but they seem to be outnumbered. My step-son worked his tail off and became a lead at a Martin-Marietta plant. My sister has 3 kids. An engineer, a veterinarian/research scientist, and a coder for Google. It's all about the parenting.

Fear tactics from the Democrats. Class warfare plain and simple. So politics as usual.

Until they stop buying a new $2000 iPhone every year and a new $40k car before they pay off the old car... there isn't much hope for most of them to own a house!
I tried telling a young friend... 28yo with a 2yo kid... he showed me his new "gold" iPhone.

One factor that isn’t often considered in conversations like these is the fact of how much buying power a dollar has lost in the last 30-40 years. Inflation affects everything, yet is woefully underestimated by people discussing how young people spend their money, the economy, etc.
there has also been a large shift culturally away from the old standby of working your whole life to afford to do the things you want towards enjoying your younger years more fully and dealing with the rest on the backend. Right, wrong, or indifferent is an entirely different conversation, but should be weighed in with the other factors to form an informed opinion (in my opinion lol)

messaging is not getting across is what I picked up on with the NYC Mayoral race just a few days ago , kept hearing the youth saying " we just want a change " from a system that has worked for 250 years? so now they are going to experince all those pie in the sky promises take prosperity to make happen and the reciepe that is being proposed generates nothing but free hand outs with no generation of profitability to support these programs.

Went to a friends 80th birthday party last nite, theres some family involved, Our almost 60 year old daughter and her 30+ year old son were there. Lotta good ole people. My Grandson has an attitude, he works for a living, with his brains and his hands. When he and I talk about young peoples attitudes, I have -0- answers for him when ask "Hey Gramps", how are you supposed to make it in this environment? For clarification, he is in construction, has skills, works his ass off, while the rest of the slugs on his crew, kick the dog and tell him to slow down, he's making them look bad.

The value of the dollar went down 21.2% when Biden was president, 2020-2024.

It's only been what, 10 months... it will likely take the remaining years of Trump's term to fix all of Biden's f**kups; but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.
You have to remember that a lot of the cuts that the DOGE boys made haven't even taken effect yet; a lot of the contracts and payments had already been in effect but won't be renewed. We will see a lot of those savings in the next 12 months.
Also, this democrat government shutdown is costing a LOT of money. We're going to have to pay for it one way or another. It isn't just government employees not getting paid... there are thousands of legitimate private companies/contractors who aren't being paid and not all of them can afford to keep paying employees without getting paid themselves. This is the democrat's plan... not to starve the liberal federal employees but to starve out the conservative businesses that support president Trump's agenda.
