Rock has given you two good bits of information.

Once you get it apart ...

Go to your local pool store and get some muriatic acid (wear a mask). Use a small brush to dab some on the smeared on aluminum slag. Few coats and scrape it with a Buck knife if you have to.

Once the aluminum is gone ...

Use a good hone as mentioned with a 220 or 280 grit stone set.

If you don't have a dial bore gauge , you can use a long feeler blade. You don't really want to go over .008" I see that there are some pretty deep grooves .. how deep I don't know. If you hone it and they look acceptable, then buy a new piston kit and run it, if not, you'll need to bore that hole till it cleans up. Or do it right and do them all the first time and be done with it ..

There are both the exact same hones. But look at the difference in price. $162.62 vs. $335.45

$335 the list price. As I was typing my response earlier .. many discount offers popped up including Microsoft Edge for the lower mentioned price ..

I'm sure by the time he gets it apart , he can find someone close to him that can clean up the bore, check it for size and out of round and cheaper than he can buy a hone for..

Yeah, I agree. But from the looks of the cylinder wall, he is going to have to bore it out. But I would not consider that piston melted. This is a melted piston Click image for larger version.

You can use one of the good ones as a base reference. 3.619" is a stock piston size. 3.625 is the stock bore size.

You already know where to go next. And much of that really depends on how nice of a build (willing to spend) your looking to have as an end result.
