F1 tunnel boats / V8 four stoke?
Just curious, from the very limited coverage I've seen of 2022 F1 H2O, it looks like everybody is still running the V6 two stroke engines. Any insight why teams aren't running the V8? Not homologated? Better performance with V6?
Thanks for any info.Bullet CC w/ 225 Promax - Sold

It has traction. I think they're still dialing in the setup to try and keep up with the 2 strokes.

If it were faster the deep pocket teams would be running it. They ain't.

Until they make four stroke use mandatory, or give it such a weight break that it is competitive the teams will continue to use the V6 two smoke.
The four stroke runs hard and it will catch on eventually but right now they're not up to snuf.STV Pro Comp Ski| 200 Merc

They tested and decided it needed new boats. The two strokes went very short and wide and they don't suit the big tall heavy 4 stroke.

The classes that keep changing engines seem to just go up and up in costs, explode then something old starts again.
Is it reality versus dreamers?
Does that interpret as Factory+Administration versus economy and reality?
Just look at old classes, meaning old engines versus new classes meaning new engines and all that has come and gone over the years.
Its boat racing not engine racing.
There are more modified fishing engines raced today than ever before.Last edited by powerabout; 08-24-2022 at 09:52 AM.

So bottom line, the engines are available to run and nobody has chosen to run one in competition due to some combination of performance and cost.
