Yrs back at River Ranch, a guy had an 8 on I believe a Mirage.
He was from Fla.
Looked good but never saw it run.
He was a motor guy too.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Still cheaper for me to buy a new one. I have all the rigging.

V8 on an STV would be cool for sure. There's only been a few, and all the ones I know about have been posted in this thread. That said, I'm going from a 6" setback jackplate to a 4" this time around on my boat exactly because I have a V8 that will likely go on it one day.

My suggestion when looking for a boat for a V8 is don't get a light one. 750#+. The light ones won't like all that weight on the transom. That is the nice thing about a heavier boat, you have a lot more leeway with transom weight/setback, plus they ride nicer. With the torque of the V8, the extra weight won't matter much, if at all.Keith-

In reality, and as I stated before, I am in unknown territory and is seeking advice from the experts here. At this point in time I am leaning towards buying a new hull and rig it myself with what I have. My initial concern was if the V8 was too much motor weight wise for an STV.
I want a tandem two seater, but thanks for the info, I will look it up.True Viking

Great info, thanks Keith. Sounds like you are doing like me and take good use of our leftover engine. I know I will have a heck of a lot more fun with it on an STV than have it just sitting for sale in the garage. I understand the STV's are made in Jacksonville now so I'll stop by there and check out what they have to offer when I am on a layover there next time.True Viking

A Euro with a V8 would be a nice package. 4 seats, but still a rocket. Same bottom as a River Rocket with a lot more room inside. Doesn't look like a "race boat" like a River Rocket, Mod VP or Pro Comp/Ski does though. Runs just as good though.

It is a tandem two seater and probably the heaviest hull of this type in existence. Here's the link. Jack could build you a transom strong enough for the v8 no doubt if new is the route you choose.

For a new boat, the only "racey" option for 2 people is the River Rocket...like the white STV Kevin from R&R Prop Shop has. Can be setup 2 seats side by side in the front with a narrow rear bench, but usually either single seat or two seats in line (one behind the other). For an older boat, you could look into a used Pro Comp or Pro Comp Ski (like I have).
