    How do aftermarket motorcycle companies only have to put "for use on closed course racing only" and get away with it?

    Bass Machines is ( was?) bringing in carby tohatsu engines on individual waivers but as they are set up for kneelers the epa says ok racing only.

    The EPA has no way of keeping track of the units sold in the US besides registering new units. They also have no way of checking the units on the water (that I know of). When working in Tahoe we always heard rumors of mobile test stations but never thought anything of it. This is a pretty small market, I think the manufacturers are going to do all they can to keep their noses (and motors) clean. A closed course / racing clause should work but the automotive aftermarket has been getting hammered the last couple years. If I remember right Edge and EFI Live got hit.

    You can have aftermarket but need to pass EPA regs as lots of the auto aftermarket industry has.
    Easier with cars as more old ones get modded that are outside the rules.
    So EPA hit where they can hence my comment sell from overseas
    Another little item that has been on the backburner is hacking an efi controller software is a breach of copyright BUT there has been an exception for auto efi controllers that Detroit is now trying to close as they are getting worried when you have one controller running everything on the car and they dont want to get sued when the addon chip goes wrong

    So can I but it only allows you to update or write the map the computer was programmed for. My box has a hole drilled in it where the chip was changed. There are a few people doing them but it's very expensive and it's on the down low.
