The buyer can still get their money back from PayPal and not send the item back. If you sell on PayPal. The seller pays 3% fee and if the buyer calls PayPal and says it's not what they purchased PayPal will refund the buyer their money and the seller is screwed.

True enough, but really the whole buy/sell marketplace ought to be just links to Ebay ads... Ebay/PayPal are far better equipped to deal with fraud and already have a well established feedback system. It isn't perfect but my Ebay purchases have been about 295 out of 300 "good or excellent" and my S&F purchases have been way, way under 50% being "as described" when they arrived.

Seems that most people know they will get a better price on Ebay (more exposure, plus bidding) but it's a lot easier to unload "junk" here for the reasons above.

I have dealt with some great sellers here, but they would be great sellers on Ebay, too.

I agree. I've never had a problem on eBay. Never really had a problem at all until now.

Ya Know its all bad when someone gets screwed!!! Its bad for the buyer or seller and its bad for this sites reputation as well as long time respected members.

I swear I hate to see it as much as anybody!!! BUT!!!!!!! What many are failing to realize is that 10's of thousands of Good transactions have happened from this site and all went well. It never fails to amaze me how a deal gone bad gains way more popularity than a Deal gone good. Im have posted many times about my great dealings with site members on here as have people done the same about me. And you might see two to three positive posts responding.

But someone post a deal gone bad and all hell breaks loose. I have never gotten screwed on here and to the best of my knowledge I have never done a buyer wrong either. But to maintain a good buy and sell record as a individual one needs to take precautions. Talk with the person, Try to use pay pal if at all possible. Ask other forum members if they know anything about the selling member. Take a look at the sellers activity on here. Usually that will tell a buyer ALOT!!! The buy and sell rules used to say a member had to be a Paying member or have a minimum of 100 posts before they could sell. Apparently that no longer applies and might be something for Greg to take a look at. I dont recall that many bad deals when that rule was inplace.

I am in no way shape or form trying to say it's the sites fault. I simply posted the info on my deal so others won't get scammed like I did. I'm only trying to help the members of this site.

No one said you or anyone else was trying to say its the sites fault. Its always good to post and flag a bad seller!!! Read my post carefully before taking offence to it. Its also good to post a Deal gone good.

I completely agree. I'm not offended at all. I just wanted to be clear.

I still like the PayPal thought. I have done many many transactions buy and selling through them on eBay and other sites, ( one just a couple days ago here ) and if nothing else it's easy and free to set up and no maintenance fees for those who don't use it much.

Yea, it's a 3% charge for the seller or for the payee depending on a "gift" or for goods and services, but it is a piece of mind on both concerned.

I think it should be a requirement for those who want to buy and sell here. I believe it is a requirement on eBay.

Might even take some of the burden off Greg here..don't know for sure?

    Just my .00000002

Based on my conversation with Crusader today, we can assume that 'Jsuther' is almost certainly involved in the boating business somehow. If anybody here ever gets an offer from a third party seller that is off the site, please report it to me.

Heres what pay pal doesnt cover. If a boat had a motor it wouldnt be covered. But anything else would as long as its within these posted rules.

I've had friends sell stuff and the buyer pay with paypal. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the product. After they paid the item was shipped. After they received the item the buyer called PayPal and said the item I purchased was not how the seller described. PayPal refunded to full amount to the buyer without talking to the seller. The seller was out $1000 and the buyer never shipped the item back. PayPal is only good for the buyer.

Sorry Buddy but thats total BS!!! Unless its happened to you its nothing but hear say. ive been a pay pal documented member sense its inception. And when a dispute is files the seller is contacted and a formal investigation done to make a determination before any refund is issued.
