Explain to me how a triple is considered bad because the middle gearcase takes such a "beating" but a single in the center of the tunnel is ok.

There is no such thing as a motor mounted in the center of a tunnel "having a peaceful life". The prostock guys running 3 motors were breaking cases, exhaust housings, and or putting new bushings and gears every couple races. I have personally had two cats with triple outboards and when you run in the rough and watch that center motor it will make you cringe every time. Smooth water where the load pressure is consistent is not a big deal.

I think this 24 is set up correctly to run a single. It appears that there is a center pod to protect the engine. You can see it in the pics in post #1. This seems like a real solid set up. GLWS

Yeah, I know, my bad, I was asking everybody else, always liked that boat, it was not in my budget range last time it went up for sale. I'll contact you if I could come up with something.

The set back bracket and the jack plate on the Skater are Stainless Marine. They are independent of each other . Both are very substantial units.
