    Kevin is right, it is for sleeve alignment. There is a bolt that goes in that hole when you remove the plug. The bolt is turned to a pencil point very much like the bolt that goes in the shift linkage that attaches the shift rod from the gearcase to linkage on the bottom of the powerhead on a factory engine. If my memory serves me correctly it is a 1/4-20 bolt. The sleeves are slotted at the bottom in two different spots so it will align a port or starboard sleeve.

    I don't like them in the freezer. Seems to Cool the block too fast. When it's 90 in the shop I do put them in the fridge through.

    Those sleeves are really thick and stay pretty round when sleeving. I also never cooled the sleeve just heat the block and they drop in.
