Hope the weather warms up some before long as I'm on the last knockings with the wood pile, should be enough for the next week or so. After that I shall be in Florida for two weeks and the kitchen goddess does not do fires--------just turns up the heat on the remote.

Nice couple of days forecast -----maybe I can leave the workshop doors open and let some sunshine in.

Five new Starrett band saw blades came yesterday, two and three inch thick alloys makes a mess of a blade in no time flat, dont seem to be able to find a metal blade that holds its edge for long.

"Once more into the fray"----- time I was hauling mail instead of lying here cogitating .

It's a thread cutting oil Pilgrim, just always thought it was ok for a band saw blade-----it does smell like a really 'Orrible bad fart when it gets hot!

I thought you had a few choices with ally
WD40 or wax etc?

Tried both of those Pilgrim-----totally bloody useless------even gone down to 3 tpi-----vibrates your eyeballs enough to just quit using metal and stick to timber. Tried some chinky hot shot blades from Sanshuin Province and such places. Maybe it's the blade speed, anyway I just grit my teeth and bite the bullet. Begs the question " who makes an effective metal cutting bandsaw blade"

I get my metal cutting blades from McMaster Carr. I even got them for my Black & Decker wood band saw that no one else had. They work great. Here is the link to their site.

Mercury Powertune/Evinrude Enginetuner. been usin it since 1972. for 1" (6061t6)and thinner --crank the saw up and let it eat.cuts like butter.over 1" try it???.helps to have a partner do the spraying.-th

Looks like what I'm after John, coming over in April for Craig's wedding, will pick half a dozen up then. 3/8" plate is no problem, it's the 2----3" billets of alloy that get to making everything overheat and vibrate-------almost chucked the towel in-------am now buying blades five and six at a time--------that's just this month.

Wow, That looks like it's ready to take off! Hardly qualifies as a Puey though. My friend up the road does have molds for the outrigger
style drag boats, which he was 1st in Top Fuel Dragster for 11 years in a row (Bob Montgomery). I'll get you a picture when I stop by his shop. Your concept is spot on!

i was just goofing off Roger, wait until the weekend, you may change your mind.
Spent all day doing the "Outboard concept", never been down this road before, done a short stack 1100 HP -------was going to be V 10 configuration but it kinda looked outa place so it's a V 6?, with a measly 950 HP -----still with short stacks.
Had to do a beefed up gearcase though, mean looking SOB-----will take up to 1500 HP. ------shoulda kept those big old props !
Played about with sponsons, won't ever look like a full blown tunnel- But does improve with fiddle farting-----just a tad "EXPERIMENTAL IMAGE" but slowly getting there.
Anyway my friend, have a goosey at it over the weekend and tell me your thoughts------if you think it's crap, say so, I got the hide of a gator and don't take offence. (Often). J.

I have a aluminium blade for the angle grinder, looks like a rip saw blade and cuts through like butter with no lube.
I wonder if you could get one for a table saw and shift the big jobs from the band saw.
Just make sure you hang onto the part....

Never found an angle grinder blade that would cut aluminium worth a toss Pilgrim, but I'm willing to try-----threw out the table saw a while back -------I'm all growed up now-----as my sainted mother used to say "Your a big boy now, act like it".
My son Mark actually discussed "Grinding" with me for the first time ever and gave me a disc that fits the angle grinder, made life a whole lot easier, especially when I do a gearcase which is all hand ground and shaped.
Take a look at the latest effort when I do the next post, I'm chuffed to buggery with the result, I'm finally getting the hang of "Concept outboards" and their gear cases-------only taken me ten years-----guess I'm a slow learner.

Bloody Thursday already, rent day sure comes round quick when your skint.
Will do the pilgrimage to the car boot sale at Ford today, like to get there around 7:30 am, even then I find most of the good stuff had been sold in the parking lot during the night,.
Some big money changes hands at this place-------it's a bit of a doubtful and dubious place to do business-------I reckon there's a lot of dodgy gear finds it way there and gets lost in the legit stuff.
Time for me to be up and running-----got me a "Concept" to finish ------- need to convince Roger H. It's PUEYLIKE.

Same old crap----same old villains---- -just a different day-----I did it again, got suckered into buying more Sh-te than the parson preached about.
Got a good run at the "PUEY TYPE CONCEPT OUTBOARD"
finished the gearcase, polished the lump, fitted the pipes-----then dropped the bloody thing and broke two of the short stacks--------had to hold my urge to sling the almost finished but ever so slightly bent motor over the hedge into the woods.
Having my forty winks now, get back to you tonight.

Well, had one of THOSE days--------all trundled along nicely until the close of play-------should have just called it a day, things had gone so well I thought I would just drill and tap a 6mm hole to hang the motor on to. Did the motor side of the job ------then broke the tap off in the cowl, "CONCEPT does not have a mother or father.

As Scarlet said in "Gone with the wind"-------tomorrow is another day.!
