I didn't dial it in... boat was always set up sweet for many many years.. when dave owned it and I was blasting in it with a 2.4 fuel injected and carbed... and then the number of different 2.5's he had... the boat was always amazing. Doesnt hurt that Orock did all the glass work may he rest in peace and I spent no less than 10 summers blasting in that boat from right after it was Georges, then Brophys, then Daves then my friend brian who also has passed then mine.....the story I was always told when I worked at clarks landing in the 80s' was that this was the spirit of 76 boat from the local class. 1976 hull and 76 out of the mold. Vnemous can confirm these were the numbers on it too. the doctor that bought it in lake hopatcong and brought it to point changed the name to therapy....
Daves fastest motor which got that boat 80/81 was a 2.4 he got from fuller he called Pepe La Mule... says it didnt have the torque because it was carb'd but the top end charge of that motor was insane.... then when I bought it, I sold a blackmax 2.4 200 and I bought the bad to the bone Mod VP from George immediatly. which also was dialed in insane and making killer power as soon as break in was done... knowing right away the boat was a rocket because it beat the old number. even if by 1 or 2 mph lol.
still my favorite boat I think everyone thats owned it had a love affair with it.

Any idea what ever happened to this Challenger? I live on Lake Hopatcong and I'd love to find an original boat like this that never left the lake. Have never seen it out on the water.

I took that photo around fall of 2010. The boat was on the lake its entire life and was hung in a private boat house. The last few years it didn't see much use due to the owners illness. I assisted in selling it to BobbyClam and although it didn't stay on Lk. Hopatcong, we were glad to see Bobby get it.

Not to resurrect a dead thread, but I am bringing a 21 shadow back to life, any suggestions about common problem areas? The boat seems to be in fairly good shape, but it has been sitting for quite a while. Thanks in advance. -Nick Click image for larger version.

Had to replace fuel tank on mine 3 years ago. Foam got wet and pitted tank. Can you send more pictures of interior and splash well?

I'm going to go do some work on it this weekend, so I'll grab some extra photos then. I'm hoping the tank is ok, I figure I'll need to drain the tank and get all the old fuel out of it if it isn't rusted through.

I'll get as many photos as I can but I don't know much about the boat. My ol' man bought it in the late 70's early 80s and repowered with the 2.5 260 in the 90s. I've always loved this boat so when he said he wanted to sell it I talked him into passing it on haha. It's been sitting for awhile but I think I can resurrect her. I just love the look of these boats versus the jetboats with speakers that seem so popular these days

I just hooked up a clear hose to the pickup ran it out the bilge hole and jacked up the front of the trailer. It all gravity fed out.
Old pickups did have debris in the screens.
