Mod VP is actually becoming active again. Now called the APBA Mod VP vintage class.
Only boats that competed in the IOGP APBA Mod VP series are eligible to participate. This is me at the Leaonardtown Md APBA vintage regatta in 2022 starting the warmup lap.

I always loved these vintage days of racing where boats were sporting two and three engines. Time would eventually show that the added weight of more that one engine, did not really add significantly to the top end speed, but it did give it a lot of acceleration coming out of a tight turn. Nevertheless, they were always on the top of my "cool" list.

V4 crossflow motor with Algon throttle bodies, McGee crank driven fuel pump and metering system (like Hilborn), 50% step-up gearbox in mid-section and 16" Record steel prop on 1 to 1 lower unit. The 130 mph record run was at 6800 rpm and about 80% throttle so could have been quicker on better water conditions.
