While I was out shovelling snow on this chilly afternoon in Canada, the FedEX truck rolled up. Lo and Behold, it was carrying one of Jackie's Concepts - The very rare and successful Rotary/Tunnel! How's that for a lift this weekend!!

This is my second JW work of art .. does this mean I have a collection now?
Jackie, it's beautiful piece - Thank you!
- Mark
...very nice...
Nice to know somebody loves me—— sent another to North Carolina —- Kurt Dressler, and he actually paid for it, how about that ????????????
Finally found out that i can get paid from anywhere in the world via PAYPAL.
I AM STILL HOLDING MY BREATH UNTIL I FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT THEIR RATE OF COMMISSION IS.
Jackie, if the payment is done using the “friends & family” method nothing is deducted other than the relevant exchange at the time.

My, how the mighty have fallen —— made this some ten years ago—- was never one of my favourites , didn’t have the heart to bin it, so i chucked it under the laurel hedge four years ago when we moved here . Just uncovered it again now we are on the move . Might have to bin it after all.
Sorry Ken, its the way of the world—- some days you eat bear !
Attachment 482829
How about this one Gene—— just for you, the one you always wanted, has the length, comfortable capsule ——air Con. sprung seats and triples . Bit like todays racers ——— spoiled rotten, all the comforts of a sitting room. No opening your mouth when it rains to quench the thirst ????? Nobody believed it anyway !!!
Attachment 482830Attachment 482831
Course——with the pipe, its a thousand horsepower apiece . On a tunnel —- with a centre console. Not much change out of a lot of money !!!!! But, i don’t ever remember any innovative boat not getting sold , do you ??????
Attachment 482832Attachment 482833
Talking of innovative boats, my son Marks 50’ twin diesels pushing a pair of heavy duty trouble free Arnesons and WILSON/ROLLA. Props. Fly by wire controls —— elevating cockpit —- outside dining and kitchen — absolutely bristling with all the latest technology. He built it over a period of eight years for him and Vicky to cruise the world on.
Unfortunately Vicky is not going to make it. Mark has decided the boat has to go. —- its fully sorted, runs sixty plus {through anything} on a thimbleful. Probably the most innovative 50’ boat on the market today. Done the Bimini run a couple of times . Low hours. If you are interested call Mark Wilson at Wilson Custom Maine. I will give you his number, but only on a PM .
Jacki, I'm guessing...but maybe this was the "beginning" of the 50'er

seems so long ago that im damned if i can remember. Chris Hodges was instrumental in designing the plug . Took forever to get it exactly as Mark wanted it. Nothing but the very best of everything was ever used . Even the bow thruster was custom made. It has the largest fishing cockpit of any boat i ever saw. Something like 20’X8’. Air con everywhere . Fridges and freezers and ice makers , king size beds wine coolers and a HI-FI that can be heard clear across to Cuba . Underwater flood lights that change colour all the time , searchlights , spotlights bow lights ——- no expense was spared — cost was well in excess of seven figures . But then again , there never was a boat ever built with so much attention to detail. He called it “MOONLIGHT LADY”. Even the tender is called “LITTLE MOONLIGHT LADY”
If you want to set records---
And you want to be comfortable--
What is YOUR choice??

YUP!!!!!!—- I even have that one too Gene. Told you i had a bunch of concepts, and they all have to go, must be somebody somewhere would fork out a couple a hundred bucks for each of those !!!! Plus the fifty bucks postage .
Maybe i should call Cadillac—- Or Scotty B. !!!!!
Blue arsed fly has it easy compared to me .
Selling up all my gear, consequently folk are falling over each other to buy it all, fratching and arguing over who bought what. I put twenty five old dinky toys up for sale ———12 people wanted to buy them. I was asking £50 for the lot. Nobody tried to buy it cheaper—- one guy offered £75. No prizes for guessing who got the cars ! Rest of them thought i was an asshole. Just can’t win some days.
Buying another house —- lawyers are overwhelmed —takes twice as long to do any transaction. Buyer wants in—-seller wants out—— lawyers and officials take out handkerchief and wipe sweaty forehead, im too busy . Wait until this is all over. Screw the banks and credit cards —- i want back to ready cash and a handshake. And a biscuit tin under the bed . Plus the right to kick the crap out of any SOB who tries to rob me .
TAKE A KNEE ???????? Take a hike——- does that make me a bad person because i believe all folk are basically good. White, black, darker shade of pale , yellow as a sunflower — colour don’t mean a thing or make a difference. So, don’t start telling me what i should and should not do, think or believe, my sainted mother did a pretty good job of that some eighty years ago . Oh by the way—- i have had a thick ear—— a sore arse and my mouth washed out with soap. Never stopped me loving and respecting my parents, teachers and elders.
If im honest , i still think there’s not a kid living that doesn’t need a slapped arse at some time in its life .
Sorry about that—- just a Sunday morning rant—- sometimes you just have to say it the way it is— doesn’t do any good —— and yes, i do feel a little better.
Attachment 482882
See that’s the one i mean !!!!!! The one i was telling you about. Had a buyer in Kansas, but i guess he chickened out as there’s not a lot of water in the state. Upshot is—- i still have it . It’s one of the bigger models . How about $300 and i swallow the postage ? Bet you either Cadillac or Scotty B. buys it !
Attachment 482883
This is a mixture of exotic hardwoods , boat is ODELL’S MONA LOU. It’s still in the raw —- no drives or even a paint job, but anyone can see what it is. Another blast from the past. Anyone out there with enough ambition and balls to take it on and finish it ???
Attachment 482884
Another 40’ MAGNUM, triple stern drives —- covered it in white enamel and forgot about it for years . Never did get around to the livery . Another project for some up and coming wannabee.
Did old Warby,s AUSTRALIA RECORD BOAT some ten years ago. Was a big bugger, and solid . Weighed a half hundredweight, Painted it white and forgot it—. When we moved i chucked it under the hedge for safe keeping. It will make an evenings burning on the wood store .
Where are you moving to this time? I don't know how you do it. We will be in our home 30 years this summer and plan to stay until we just can't manage the house anymore. Besides we have almost got the place squared away.
Maybe its a case of different strokes for different folks !!!! My parents always said they should have had a horse and caravan. Always on the move, different places, different ventures and in the end each had a different partner. By then i was long gone searching for my own destiny ! Seems like every 4/5 years i come to not just a fork in the road , but a six way spaghetti junction.
Sometimes i got it right —- i know other times , i got it horribly wrong. Fact is , only place i ever stayed at for any length of time was THE FARM>. 22years of my life spent there . Happiest and saddest days —— all my grandkids loved it. Me eldest daughter Sandra died there —- have spent the last twenty years meandering.
Next move will be the seventh in twenty years . Will probably be the last too. At least it will be exactly what i want from a house , small compact with a workshop to suit me . At 89 my needs and wants are not what they once were.
Survival has taken the place of ambition. I do not for one minute envy any of those that stayed in one place most of their lives. They must have been a lot more content than i ever was . Afraid i was one of those that always wanted to know what was on the ever side . Liked to give things a try. I knew early on that i was not cut out to be a baker . Never dreamed i would end up being a fernagler of concepts .
Still in lockdown. By the end of this week 20 million will have had their first COVID-19 vaccination. By the end of April every person in England will have had the jab.
Things are due to start happening on the 8th of march , when the kids go back to school. Boris has generally kept the lid shut this time . Maybe the light at the end of the tunnel is not the onrushing train after all>
Europe is in tatters — very little vaccine available anywhere . Greece and Italy have none —- Holland, France and Germany have some, but wont share it. Meanwhile in the UK —- we have in spades . Even helping out some third world countries { is it ok to call them “third world” anymore?}.
We still have lunatics who want to change the name of colleges from SIR WALTER RALEIGH to GRETA FUNBERG. Just because WALT was around in 1865 when slavery was abolished . DUH !!!!!!
Makes me laugh to see the price of gas has gone up to $2.45 a gallon in your neck of the woods —- wonder how you would feel at $6.50 a gallon ????? Yes, that’s what we pay here in England, In spite of the fact oil is $60 a barrel worldwide ??????? Means its taxed at some 500 percent here.
Only a question of time before Joe realises where his next meals coming from ???????
500,000 COVID deaths in the USA—— wow. Now lets look at it rationally. United Kingdom has !20,000 Covid deaths with a population close to 70 million . USA has 350 million people —— percentage wise—- its not far off being the same . Bet you a pound to a pincha that those stats will be pretty much the same throughout the world !!!! We have had draconian lockdowns ——- lead the world with its vaccine program, we have been closed down in tight lockdown . No airplanes in the sky —- no shops or restaurants open—— schools closed —- no travel, Two metres distance ????????
USA. YOU RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG ——- sky is still full of aircraft—— businesses and restaurants pretty much open everywhere . Covid deaths per capita —- pretty much the same.
Only difference it seems to me is,—- Boris managed to damn near bankrupt the UK —— still didn’t achieve any better results than the US.
Looks like winters finally over. Still a bit early, but temperatures look to be set at double figures until mid March. Daffodils are in full bloom and the buds are sprouting on the trees.
What’s this got to do with Boat Racing —— not a damn thing —- but it does have a huge bearing on lots of the old farts who made it through a PANDEMIC.
Ben Ainsley messed up in the Americas Cup. Just another 11 million down the tube. Lost out to the Italians. Now its just the final between the Kiwis and the Ities .

1971— Jesus wept, is it almost fifty years ago ?
Boat was unbeatable, won everything i went in for except for a couple of disasters . One was the chase water 500 miler , when i threw a blade off my ROLLA prop and shook the bottom end off . Twenty years later when they drained the lake . It was found . Complete with half a prop.
After the Windermere three hour , boat and motor went to canada, Mark Rothermel ran it for a season . Last time i saw it was in Valleyfield, Mexicans had it .
Picture is the “THE DUCHESS GOLD CUP” , probably the most prestigious trophy on the domestic calendar . Was valued at £30,000 in 1971.
In spite of the RYA’s efforts to get it as an offshore trophy, it has always remained a “CIRCLE “ {CIRCUIT} trophy.
Many years later, my son Mark would win the DUCHESS ,

This laddie looks more like Renato than Renato himself doncha think ???????
It is in actual fact Albert Einstein !!!!!!!!!!!
But i suppose you could say Renato was the Einstein of “Circle” racing as we know it today!!!!!!!!!!
WELL, that went down like a turd in a punch bowl !!!!!
He was Mercury you know , long before he ever went RUDE !!!
Always had to have the best—— even before Sirois and later the American factory drivers .
Pulled some remarkable stunts —- swopped motors in the middle of the night.
Hid props and covered sponsons —— was always a loner, until you had something he didn’t!.
Roy Ridgell was the only person he ever trusted —— but only 10 per cent.
Always thought Scotti had a better deal with OMC than he did with Mercury,—— which was absolute nonsense of course .
Fell from a dizzy height harder than any other boat driver anywhere —— IRS nailed his hide to the workshop door to dry.
Looks like TIGER WOODS had another little hiccup ——— got himself in a tangle with a Far Eastern SUV —— would probably have walked away unscathed in a Yank SUV. Can’t imagine a HUMMER or an ESCALADA crumpling like that. Just saying, i really don’t know much at all.
