Even in 1979 i was still shooting my mouth off .
Sorry about the print, but its not all my fault. It was printed over a picture which doesnt always show up clearly.

Lets try again , this is from the june 1979 issue of Powerboat and Waterskiing magazine
Baverstock was editor and Ros Knott was advertising manager/
In 1972 Baverstock and i set off for havasu or Parker , i forget which, we were supposed to cover OMC’S world record attempt .
We made it as far as Highland and spent the week there, Baverstock decided it was far more exciting there in highland than either Needles or Havasu. I had to agree.

Hot news in June 1979 was Velden leaving Mercury and joining up with Garbrecht and OMC.

At this moment in time, Parkinson was promoting the Canon Series. European Formula one . Was open to the OZ class .

Look at the price tag on this outfit . Even includes the tow truck.

Just to keep prices in prospective , hers what boats and motors cost in 1976.
Must of had some bloody big shelves:eek:

Remember the days when the tabacco companies spent “Loadsamoney” on centre spreads, back pages and two boat teams. Circuit and offshore. . Unlimited cash .
Just to let you know, today is not my birthdays! No particular reason!
During this pandemonium lock up your grannies time, ive been beavering away for the last four months on the legendary ( by that, I mean the one that never was) “GOLD GHOST” . Reputedly built for the infamous MAHARAJAH OF THE BRONX, JOEY PASTRAMI ONRYE.
This will be the very last in the series of thirteen Rolls Royce Silver Ghost’s, and will be the only “Gold Ghost” ever manufactured! Virtually everything is made of polished brass, other than the tyres , upholstery and glass screen.
another month and I’ll post a piccie. Comes with a hefty price tag, but as the old ROLLS-ROYCE adage goes, if you have to ask the price, you can’t afford it.
Well then, Happy (not your) Birthday - Mr. Wilson.........
If it were your birthday, then 43 years ago today (22 August 1977).......I entered the US Navy (my dad wouldn't get me a job with Mercury) and ultimately stayed for 26 years with 5 Submarines and two Shore Duties.
See for yourselves the origins of F1 Started in Bristol . Adopted by Parkinson for the Canon series . Then to the Fonda series, before being hijacked by the UIM for the OZ series.
I know the S+F site was closed for a couple of days for refreshments. How come you managed to lose SIX DAYS of the TRICKS thread? What did I do that was so terribly wrong? “Refresh” it and I’ll forgive you Greg !
Now I remember, I got on to the the subject of ANDY’S ANTICS. Was that such a taboo subject in these days of PC and BLM ?
What I said was factual and hilarious, nothing untoward or offensive to anyone that I can see, ot have I got it wrong?
JPS tobacco helped fuel Bill Seebold and Tom Percival. Bob Spalding must have at that time, took a smokeless break from co-driving with Tom.

In 1973 (I believe the second race the F1 tunnels ran at Bristol) I saw Renato Molinari win.
Here is Renato with V8 power at Bristol.

.
Dont ever remember the V8 running at Bristol , but then again my memories shot. If renato won at at Bristol in 73, then it would have been with a Merc, not an OMC. Think he swopped sides in 74/5, but i was once wrong before.
Renato’s first car was a Lancia, nothing spectacular, though he did put a go faster stripe over the roof and bonnet.
Tom and Bob always ran numbers 10 and 11.
Was Bill Brown who first Raced under the Carlesberg Banner, Jenks was racing with Gordons Gin, Bob then got the CARLSBERG sponsorship, but not TOM.
Bob and Tom together were offered the MARTINI deal, Garbrecht turned it down in favour of the John Player deal.
Useless bits of information can always be dissected, disputed and discarded, thats the beauty of it.
...ah yes...i knew there was a glimmer of light...lol...;)https://gimmealine.files.wordpress.c...f-sunshine.jpg

Good Lord Jackie, that is a nasty wound. At your age, tumbles can become quite a serious issue. As FUJIMO said...please be careful and heal up.
