From the BENETEAU boat factory..
#4 Cees Van Der Velden/Tom Posey won the Paris 6 hours 1979 with Beneteau as the main sponsor.
Here he is with the world famous Madame Roux Beneteau..
"The First Lady Of Yachting" she is one tough leader.

I did race for Beneteau 1979 in Evian, France. That's me in the #56 boat.
I did not get the opportunity to meet Madame Beneteau..https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...5/16/1f972.png

Experimental SST-60 at Kankakee. Randy Minch ran an Evinrude and i ran a Johnson. Both with our Karelsen Sport E none capsule boats for an exhibition. Engines were hopped up with cut heads, hand porting and polished crankcases.
They were about 8 MPH faster than the production SST-60 on a capsule boat.

So on the subject of polished crankcases, maybe I can get a clarification from people who know here. When I was racing 3cyl. V bottoms I built a 49 cu in 75 and hand ported it. While I had the engine apart I polished the inside of the crankcase and I mean it was shiny. Before I put the engine together a couple of people told me that a shiny crankcase in a 2 stroke would be detrimental to the fuel charge as it swirled through the engine. So I went back and bead blasted the gloss off before putting it back together. The engine was a strong runner. But I never did find out who was correct on this subject. Were factory race engines shiny throughout the inside?
No..never the ones I raced.

Back in the early/mid eighties it was a trend by F1 drivers to have a Rolex..Submariner gold was the most popular one.https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...5/16/1f600.png

Just a note..The Benson & Hedges three boat team could use cigarette sponsorship in the Stockholm GP 1984.
I could not have tobacco or alcohol sponsorship on my boat because I used a Swedish license from the Swedish Power Boat Federation.

The last time Velden had tobacco sponsorship in the USA was the Kool sponsorship in 1985. Series sponsorship started to die in the late 80's. A couple of teams were fortunate enough to have funding for the whole season while the rest of us traveled race to race to be assigned local sponsors for the weekend (barely enough to cover expenses?) Vinyl graphics came in handy back then. Of course the front runners got the event pick of the litter while the back markers got the crumbs.
This is stuff we had to deal with looking for sponsorship with a Swedish license..Yes..I tried but could not get them for a full sponsorship deal because most of the races was outside Sweden.
"In Sweden the state-run monopoly on alcohol sales, Systembolaget, sponsored an advertising campaign called Spola Kröken, or Flush the Booze, which tried to convince Swedes to drink in moderation, and to avoid drinking strong alcohol"

Appears to be "forced retirement". I don't see their APX and APR programs developing any flight feathers either. Only complete rigs I see are the ones prepped for photo events.

I just found this pin from a dealer meeting in 2009 I was lucky enough to attend. I cant remember If they had the blendster Seadoo/Skiddoo 800cc straight pipe blender or the 50hp E tec outboard blender at that meeting. Either way it was a blast and a highlight of my career in the boat biz. https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...5/16/1f49a.png

Hi Lars, not an expert at posting.
I got the Evinrude Offshores from with the JW Marriot Skater. It looks almost identical to your triple skater. That is the manual that they gave me with the hand written shop notes from Alex who built the twin plug heads and also the shops notes for the twin pinion shiftable lowers to make them legal for racing. Had a great time with them but they were way over my head for mechanical tuning. I did have the a prop shaft break and we machined Mercury replacement to allow me to ruin mercury props.
Thanks

Thanks..very interesting. Please check your files for pictures..Not sure but I think this is a Skater 32 with two Evinrude racing V8 outboards.

Hi Lars, that is my boat next to my friends triple merc motion at Lake Pleasant. Still have it. https://attachment.outlook.live.net/...animation=true
I think there is still a video out there of the twin evinrude v8 skater out there before I made the swap. It was crazy fun to drive with the foot pedal. The sound and the smoke at the dock was amazing.
