Oh Damn , That's Pretty Rough !!! I'm just glad to know there are people like Beefy still willing to get involved in this sport at his age . I know I didn't have a boat like mine or his for that matter when I has 17 or even 27 . Rich Martin 018:mad:
Yep, he's a big one.
Good looking motor Spanky. Have you run those heads yet?
;);) now don't go getting your panties in a bunch, I said I was just joking with ya, and by the way size doesn't scare me, been there done that.
At 17 I had the little G.W. Invader, not near as fast as your brothers i'm sure.
All in fun Buddy ;):iagree:
Anyone know where i can get high performance ignition coils. I cant seem to find them. 1989 GT200
the coils aint the real issue wit stock electronics...
kid..
what else then?
RTD, what exactly are you going for? The stock coils are not bad at all and you should be fine with a regular CDI box. You could remove the limiter but I believe it should be 6700rpm on your motor.
mostly I just would like a good idle in gear.
Rick
Jetting will fix that.

my action with the stock 200 gt... put the fitch hood on it:thumbsup::cheers:
wtf is idle?
It needs to idle out of the sand bar at least. Without dying three times. So you guys are thinking its fat on idle?
Rick
Dont be afraid to post some gps #s on the action wit tha loopa.:)
64mph gps is all lots of ski time on this motor also has a 23 four blade
haha... nothin big yet man. still a stock looper:thumbsup:... seen 83 with a 30p chopper on the limiter .... got a 32 cleaver want to try, supposed to be good for that boat top end wise and the limiter shouldn't be ther much longer... we'll see:thumbsup:
Im going to raise the motor an inch this spring.I think its to deep no rooster tail ?
Mine wouldn't idle either when warm. Turns out one of the reeds was held open by a burr on the reed block. Bad reeds can surely cause idle difficulties.
Yeah a bit, but I was told that was normal. It was probably a combination of things. The idle got a little better when I added exhaust reliefs. I brought the mid to work today to open up the relief slots a little more, to slightly larger than stock, which is two 1/2" holes.
I would do a complete link and sync including checking idle timing and indexing the flywheel. I would bet something is off a little.
Put the mid on the milling machine today to remove some excess material. Took off up to 1/4 inch in this pic!

Opened up the idle relief slots for a little more flow.

Got a later model pan ('95 I think) with the trim switch and I'm in the process of adding rigging tubes. I haven't started grinding on the epoxy yet.
