But aviators have had to live with words like aileron, fuselage, empenage, etc.----

Lets not look too closely at the similarities between english and french Gene, there is a lot more in common than either country cares to admit.
Did it again, went to the car boot and topped up with more still of the stuff i wanted but didn't need , its like taking a greedy kid to Mc Donalds and feeding him junk food till he pops.
Finally got back to the "Harsoul" Made it into a four master on legs with a helm and aileron sails , maybe a spinnaker, Bow sprit ---- loads of pulleys and string, it has to be better than the last effort-
-------that means stuffing more bits on it. its definitely the last sailing boat i will ever attempt.
Hey Gene, are you talking dirty to me ? Aileron----Fuselage,------Empenage ????? sounds positively vulgar------I know FUSELAGE translates to Body--------Empenage sounds like heaven, Maybe Aileron is what it takes to get there, i know what the French can be like!
Mark is trying to get Craig to help him finish off the superboat, but without much success i was reminded of that old adage ---ASK NOT WHAT YOUR FATHER CAN DO FOR YOU-----BUT -----WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR YOUR FATHER?
I believe a well known person used these words in a slightly different context a few years ago.
Slept like a log last night, didn't even take IPad to bed, left her on charge all night so she was all ready for me this morning!
Any of you out there doing anything exciting today? Would be nice to know you were doing something besides growing old!
Was a time when a few of you used to build a new workshop, make a guitar, renovate a boat or car, paint the wife pink, ANYTHING, but for crying out loud tell me your all active and doing something.
Dont have anything planned for today, just open up the shop and take it from there, play it by ear so to speak. Most of the models I made for Tavares, ( over twenty pieces) still need a final touch up before shipment.
If anyone out there wants their real name on the "OFFHAND" please let me know one way or another, what the hell is going to happen to it is anyone's guess. It's robust enough to stand out in most inclement weather and too big to fit in most houses unless you happen to have a palace or mansion.
Enough of all the waffling ---time to get out there and kill me something (so to speak), make the most of the day peeps, they're getting less and less, one day we'll run out of them, so let's make hay, hey?J.
Would have been a fun day had I been a jolly old jack tar sailor, but I ain't , and making sixteen pulley blocks fit onto "Harsoul", along with all the swivels and rigging gear required, I have lost all desires I ever had to be a rag and stick man.
Still, I'm making progress.
Kinda got cut short today, just as everything was going so well, I learned my friend who helps me in the garden was rushed into hospital,so it became a top priority to go and see him. Told him if he didn't feel like cutting the grass all he had to do was tell me, no need to have blood clots and funny turns. He was sat up in a chair, plugged into a monitor and two oxygen tubes stuck up his nostrils, feeling a tad sorry for himself. We laughed and goofed around for half an hour, think he felt better for the visit.
Jilly made me change into presentable duds -----said she wouldn't come if I still had my workshop clothes on! Females are funny like that!
Never did get back into the shop this afternoon, still, can't win 'em all can you?
Will make up for it tomorrow, nothing on until 7pm, then it's a Barbie next door with a bit of ELVIS thrown in, talk in the morning, good night one and all, MYGGWY.J.
Saturday morning and all well with the world, looks like a fine sunshiny day ? Would get an uninterrupted day in the shop, but you know the old adage "The best laid plans of mice and men".
Sounds like Stienbeck but was probably W.C.Fields!
If I get a wriggle on, I'll post a couple of piccies of "Harsoul". Never thought friggin rigging could take so long but pulleys don't hang off'n sky hooks, I have to make it happen.
Too much going on in the big old world to comment on, if I started I would bore you to tears, best to keep schtum and remain friends.
Have another great day peeps, make the most of it, it'll only pass this way the once.J.

Always wanted a "Lotus " Cortina, Roger Clarke rallied one quite successfully .

Had a full and useful day, Harsoul is finally coming together, can't make up my mind whether to use string or wire for the rigging, so I did the port side wire and starboard string. If anyone's interested I can post more piccies, but I do feel guilty putting sail on a powerboat site.
Had an indoor Barbie at Steve's tonight, good company, good wine , finished off with a few glasses of port which is fatal as far I'm concerned. Did my rendition of Louis Armstrongs "Wonderful Woild" before making my way back to the house and reality. It's midnight so I'm off to noddy land, talk in the mornin, bugs bite peeps, MYGGWY.J.
Not often I hit the port bottle, but it was one of those evenings that just seemed to go right, had some "discussions" that didn't turn into an Argument, intelligent conversation with adults, kids were not on the agenda for once.
There is one of those damn FESTIVALS in the next village (Fontwell) going on all weekend, they have licence to play music until 2AM which to my way of thinking is two hours too long, midnight is late enough for any law abiding person.
On the last knockings of "HARSOUL", just have to mount it and do the graphics, decide what rigging to use, wire or string?
Will probably join the other two contenders, "PISTOFF"and "OFFENDED" down in the shed,( studio).
Got another nice easy day, off down to "THE HAMBLE" for lunch with my sister Ange, it's Fishies birthday today, it's just a year since they retired!
Bon Continuation pour Le weekend. J.
Treadmill of life is never ending, arrived home, just about to put my feet up for five only to be informed we are off down the lane to celebrate Maria's birthday, fifty today. There goes another quiet evening in front of the TV.
Time to go, no peace for the wicked.
I've come to the reluctant conclusion that I am no longer a party animal!
We have a rock festival right here in the next village, the noise is horrendous , the tripe they are issuing is in no way related to music as we once knew it!
Take ANY instrument and any pig ignorant yokel, put him alongside half a dozen just like him, throw in a set of drums, give 'em some "Wacky Baccy" stand back while they beat the sh-t out of said instruments and you got yourself a modern day ROCK BAND-----none of them could tell a quaver from a coal mine, but they are all called musicians, WHY.?
Stop right there Willa, I am not a grumpy old curmudgeon, I love music of all description, always have, always will, but how on earth is it possible to call modern day crap, MUSIC---it ain't!
Kinda got my knickers in a twist tonight, went and wished Maria a happy fiftieth birthday, got the look that that turned strong men into pillars of salt as she explained she was forty nine today !
was a great little gathering of friends and neighbours, but I had to take my leave around nine, was totally knackered.
Got me a free week so should be able to clear the backlog of jobs that need finishing. But, you know what they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. !
Hope you all enjoyed the weekend, get some rest ready for the week ahead,MYGGWY.J.
Morning peeps, well the week ahead is already upon us once again and the merry go round of life keeps on turning, the metronome doesn't ever alter its pace, it just keeps on tick tocking.
Morning is turning into one of the fifty shades of? damp and drizzly, needs a bloody good downpour and a thunderstorm or two to clear the air, no sign of summer yet. We had the swallow, they were right, it didn't make the summer.
All partied out at the moment but we have two more this week, one on Friday and then my mob coming Sunday for the day, I may have to find gainful employment to cover the expenditure if we have any more parties.
Sheets are hanging again this morning , but the smell of fried bacon is overwhelming, time to do a "Lazarus"
You all have a wonderful day, j.

Positively finished the "Harsoul" I will put it with all the other stuff, settled for string for the rigging in the end, mounted it on a nice lump of oak, looks the biz now !
