How many years did it take before they finally deleted the overhang tang that used to be the downward stop on the transom? Verado? V8 and V6s? I used to laugh at the "T" handles used on the inlines and tried to imagine who had hands that size to cinch them down? My 1500XS I ordered in 1977 finally had hex head transom bolts rather than those T handles that ALWAYS loosened up. Hefty lugs and bolt bosses are the way to go! Mercury even specifies bolt head direction and sealant requirements on today's big models.
