Hi JIm, we sure had some close races together. I think your boat was faster than you think. I remember Sarasota, where I was running an 800 speedmaster, and somewhere on the last lap I broke a crank. You had been running right behind me. Last lap, last turn you passed me on the outside and rolled it. I slowed down to see if you were ok and you motioned me to keep going. I ended up winning. I don't remember what engine you had but I couldn't make another lap. It was all I could do to stay ahead of you.

Never ran a stock unit on the 700, or 800. Mostly speedmasters because they handled better than a sportmaster. Boat ran 58.104 in the kilo at Lake X. should be more because on my last run a patrol boat crossed in front of me and I had to come off it. We got it running 64 the next week on a Keller speedo for another kilo run but it was cancelled because of weather. Here is a Boat House Bulletin for the same boat with Craig Dewald and his wife.
