King of the Hill Rally 2011

Mark your calenders everyone!! This years event will be on August 26th-28th at Hickory Knob State Park again and I have 25 rooms and 4 cabins blocked until July 26th so please make your reservations by then. Room rates are $84.02 per night and cabin rates are $102.38 per night. There will be a Poker Run on Saturday morning at 10am on the beach at the old Savannah Lakes Resort. Pre-registration for the poker run will be available Friday at a tent setup by the pool. The $20 per hand is the same as last year. Racing will begin at 1pm on Saturday in the "playground" (same place as last year) and will be 800'. Waivers must be signed prior to racing if you wouild like to race (also on Friday at the tent by the pool). There may or may not be a fee this year to race, I'll keep the thread up to date as I know more. Everyone please take note that South Carolina DNR will be there again enforcing the NO WAKE law inside the bouys.... Also know that if you are ticketed while in SC you must pay the fine on spot or you will be taken to jail. Hope to see everyone there!!

I'm sorry to say that Billy Morris was in a serious motorcycle accident on Tuesday evening. His injuries are very painful. He has 3 broken ribs, a crushed right arm and elbow which required surgery, a mangled left hand and extreme road rash all over. His full coverage helmet saved his life. Billy has a long road of recovery ahead of him. I'm sure he and his family would appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

I would like to think Billy will be ready for you Hot Rods. He has a long road to recover.. :(

While this rally does rate at the top, I'd have to say it will be hard to beat the one last weekend that SPB/Lake Murray Powerboats put on at Lake Murray. Our lake just does not have the amenities Lake Murray has. They just needed a few more boats to get out there and run to top the show off. Hell, I even ran the fishin bote to help em out. Just an update on the schedule of events.... Same as the past years basically. The poker run will begin at 10am on Saturday morning. Signing up for the poker run and drag racing will be on Friday ONLY so be sure to sign up in time. There will be a fly by for those who interested down by Savannah Lakes resort after the races again.

Keep in mind that those guys ran on motor only. If someone else is anywhere close, a very little N2O shot should get it done.

Yes sir, we have nitrous!!! And lots of it. Got our cabin last night. And yes Mr. Bruce, the race is at Hickory Knob State Park. But , there are not any rooms left. Dang I'm gunna have to see one of them latest and greatest drag motas. I guess I'll have to go to Jasper this year and watch Hoxie/Collins run in pro fuel. Not trying to take anything from those guys and I wish we could draw 100 more heavy hitters to the "King of the Hill" it's just it seems they're just starting to get into racing and these others are legends. I could be wrong.

I dont believe so. If he does, it's hidden real good. He removes his rear cowl to refuel his boat and you cant hide any substantial amount anywhere else. He wasn't crazy about running me spraying and I never had my 150 shot dialed in to perfection but he still always waxed me(Iz skeeered Iz gunna pop my mota ifn I kept leanin out that akahaul). Keep in mind I didn't have a whole bunch on jus mota though.

Very well said. I was tip toeing around the subject to not disrespect you guys. I'm the last one that can talk trash since I sold my STV. All I have now is the Allsion fishin boat wid a 15" 200. It's like my Harley-looks good-makes a lot of nois-but aint goin no where. But guess what, just like you I love it and got embarrassed at lake murray just like I will at the King of the Hill. One thing though, I'll never be one of the ones with all the opinions and then be chichen $hit to get out there and line uo with somebody. Its a shame all the boats that come to these things with 260's and sit on the bank all day.

Hell, me and Billy dont even speak anymore after the run between him and Kevin but I still have to give the old man credit for being fast as hell.

PM Chummy. I'm sure he'll have some sign-up/releases with him on the water Saturday. He's just trying to make Saturday run as smooth as possible, so anything he can do in adavance, he's trying to get done Friday. Last year was his first year so he got to experience the pure hell I went through the previous 5 years.

Did you check Soap Creek marina? I attached a link to their site. They show having cabins and it's only a few miles from the site.

Also, depending on how many beverages one might have after the event, Augusta/Martinez/Thomson isn't far from lake and it's on your way back home

talked with Brad ( Chummy) last night. He said they thought Billy was King again. He also said that to be King, it was gonna be the best 2 outta 3 race. Well, Billy outrun the red hydro the first run,then the red hydro outrun Billy on the 2nd run. The red Hydro went out to get Billy for the 3rd and final run, and Billy said he was done. The red Hydro made his 3rd pass solo be cause Billy DECLINED to race!!!!! The way I ( and alot of other peeps ) see it. The red hydro ( Eddie ) should be king of the hill for doin it right!!!!!!! But, I know that no one is gonna agree with me. Just putting in my two cents.... Thanks for bbq guys it was awesome!!! And a big thanks to Chummy for puttin on a good weekend!!!! You've just been nominated to be the Official 2012 starter. If ya don't have a pontoon boat, ya gotta whole year to get one.

People don't realize what it takes to put this event on. One man can't do it all. Chummy did have some help but evidently it wasn't enough for some peoples liking. I think he had someone offer to start but when it came down to it, they were nowhere around. Thats one reason I quit organizing this event. No matter how hard ya bust your azz, there's always gunna be someone saying what SHOULD have been done to make it better. I'm sure he will accept anyone looking to volunteer for next year.

With that being said, THANKS CHUMMY for keeping it going. Great event and great to see everyone again. Also thanks to you guys that took it easy on the little ole red fishin boat. This slow azz 200 is killin me. Will have another hi-po mota for next year.

First of all I want to thank everyone that attended, you are the reason it keeps going. Sounds like everyone had a great time, or at least I hope so. There are so many people to thank I don't even know where to start, but thanks for all the compliments. Glad we didn't have to use the divers so a HUGE thanks for everyone being safe and using your heads out there. This is the second year in a row that we've battled mother nature so maybe next year things will be better. Would like to see more of a crowd for the poker run though, but also maybe mother nature had something to do with that (it was rough out there). Sorry we couldnt join Eddie this weekend..... Livermore race had us tied up. We WILL however be at the Darlington event with a couple more v-drives. As far as Eddie goes, you guys know you dont show your full hand on the first run..... second pass he tuned up a LITTLE more and won... Wish yall could have had got another dose on the third pass (was just gonna get worse for ya). That being said I hope Billy is ok and makes a full recovery... After all safety is most important!

You've just been nominated to be the Official 2012 starter. If ya don't have a pontoon boat, ya gotta whole year to get one.

People don't realize what it takes to put this event on. One man can't do it all. Chummy did have some help but evidently it wasn't enough for some peoples liking. I think he had someone offer to start but when it came down to it, they were nowhere around. Thats one reason I quit organizing this event. No matter how hard ya bust your azz, there's always gunna be someone saying what SHOULD have been done to make it better. I'm sure he will accept anyone looking to volunteer for next year.

With that being said, THANKS CHUMMY for keeping it going. Great event and great to see everyone again. Also thanks to you guys that took it easy on the little ole red fishin boat. This slow azz 200 is killin me. Will have another hi-po mota for next year.

Scott, sometimes people forget that these things are supposed to be fun and I am sure it was "for everybody but Chummy" It is not a sanctioned event and as far as I know pays nobody nothing so it bees what it bees. I am sure Chummy would be glad to start signing people up for positions, like the starting barge, finish line judge, maybe event coordinator. It is a lot of work to put on an event like this and I am sure deep down in "everyone's" heart it is appreciated.

to be the winner you have to win 2 out of the rounds. I did what was told to me . I ask billy to race again he declined.

Thanks chummy for butting on the event and thanks to all for the good wishes. I was trying to stay out of this. But we need to get it straight. Before the drivers meeting the rules were best 2 out of 3 and you had to sign up for the race on friday night to be able to run in the king of the hill. So I called chummy and ask if the red hydro had done this. The answer is no! Also on the day of the race at the drivers meeting the rules were changed by the drivers. I did not make that meeting due to helping out with the poker run and I had the boat that was going to start the races. When I did arrive I went and ask about the drivers meeting and I was told at that time it had been changed to grudge racing. That ment no starter. nobody one the finish line,run you want and if you lost one time you were out. So lets see eddie! ON that first run you were out.ON the second I ran you because you ask me to and just before the finish I bukpuked on myself and got out the gas.

If Chummy ask me next year - I will be at the finish line with my camera and Video. BUT "everyone" needs to take a turn bringing us water and cold beer! </SPAN>This year we took pictures of poker run and everyone who attended this event. I did get several pictures of racing but not the first person watching asked if they could help by riding me to the finish line for </SPAN>

I thinks its tough to include "Sunday" in the event as many people travel a Great distance for the weekend. I have been to every event and it all started thanks to "Scott" showing us the way. If you have a good idea don't just talk about it "get involved and help out". Chummy spends hours and hours riding to the lake during the year making sure proper documentation and safety rules are met and in order. I have yet to figure out how much it really cost for everyone to have a good time at Brad's expense. By the way THANKS BRAD!!!</SPAN>

Everyone was asking for T-shirts... Who would like to be in charge of this department next year? T-shirt design cost $$$. Ordering T-shirts in different sizes for ladies and men sizes... $$$ up front like Scott use to do. What about all the T-shirts left over that do not fit you to even wear.</SPAN>

So make sure when you show up that you know the rules and don't listing to someone that don't know what is going on. Also when you ask me for the last race I told you I was out of gas. Then you go out their like some big hero reving your motor up. (NOT!) Looked pretty stupited to me. So if you come back know the rules. That go for the jet boys to. Great weekend, for sure, this was my 1st rally, and things were a little all over the place as far as what the format was, I thought you had to loose 2 times, which I didnt, I had one loss against Billy. I was late for the driver meeting and didnt get that info. Now when Billy run the red boat the 2nd time I saw him get out of the gas way before the finish marker, yes the the hydro won that pass. If this had been done wright I should have had to run the hydro, after his loss to Billy, on the 1st run but things didnt go that way.I know me and Billy were really close, so I would have loved to run the hydro. Billy and the Hydro are fast boats for sure, Maybe next year things will be a little smoother. It was all in fun , hope everyone had a good time.

Ill be back next year with THATS RIGHT, MOE< and MMMMM EDDIE. Jeff

Well I know an 1100 horse jet ain't no slouch and there aren't many outboards that can outrun one. 1400-1500 horsepower and that list just shrunk to less than three all motor boats that I know that are capable. I'd like to see that black STV show up at Jasper to see how fast he is against the Pro Drag guys. I've seen enough on here to know he's fast, just wonder how fast
