dbug, thanks for the compliment!!! Someone needs to let Billy know about our Lake Murray date. First race is June 9th (sat) from approx 12:00 until we get tired. Hope to see yall there!! Tell everyoneyou know. The more the merrier!! All is welcome. And no, I didnt get a chance to race at all. Broke a rod testing early saturday morning before the race, while everyone else was still sleeping. Got home sunday and tore it down. Was a total loss. Still in the process of rebuilding. Better and badder this time!!!

Chummy, we discussed this issue last year a Clarks Hill. I told you I would do what I can. I also talked to Scott Tharpe too, think he is also gonna help. Are you totally unavailable to do anything this year??

i feel like there are a lot of people wanting this event to happen, who ever is heading this up please advise and ask for help if you need it. There are to many good people on here that can assist.

"King of the Hill"

While I have no interest in ever putting this thing together again, I can give you the quick version of how to do it right and legal. It's very tuff for one individual to pull off as Brad(Chummy) and myself can attest. Just let me warn you that if you do attempt at doing it right, don't expect to enjoy it as you will work your azz off the entire weekend.

1. Get permits from Corp. and SC DNR. (you have to be very specific in location, safety, rules etc)

2. Block of rooms at host resort. (Brads been doing Hickory Knob all mine were done out of Savannah Lake-now closed)

3. Hire dive team for drag races

4. Get insurance for drags. (I never did but would never again. I have waaayyy to much to loose in the event someone were to get hurt or killed).

5. Organize Poker Run ( Must be a large fast lead boat with lake knowledge and have other volunteers for different stops on lake)

6. Set up drag course length so it pleases every pitch prop someone might run.

7. Have a volunteer with a pontoon boat as a starting bardge.

8. Keep all idiots not racing of race course.

9. Beg mother nature to keep water level up.(DRAG COVE not very deep)

10. Hope Park Ranger does't giveya too much $hit.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last two years that Brad did it, but I knew what he was going through and don't blame him for not taking it on again. I went through it for 5 years. Hopefully someone will continue this tradition I started 7 years ago as I feel it was one of the best rallies in our area. Hats off to the Lake Murry guys for always putting together a top knotch event as well.
